현재 대한민국 국민들은 세월호, 구의역, 강남역에서 일어난 참사, 그리고 일본군 위안부 졸속 합의 등의 사회적 이슈가 된 사건들을 통해 발생된 사회적 트라우마를 겪으며 고통스러워하고 있다. 이 고통의 이유는 사회적 트라우마가 사람들에게 감당하기 어려운 실존적 불안을 야기시키고 있기 때문이다. 이러한 상황 속에서 사람들은 다양한 방법으로 불안을 견디고 해소하기 위해 노력한다. 연구자는 그들의 노력 중 집단적 추모 형태로 나타나는 공동체성과 사회적 트라우마의 상황 속에서 등장하는 트라우마 상징에 관심을 두었다. 본 논문은 사회적 트라우마와, 이를 진정시키고 완화시키기 위한 공동체적 행위와 트라우마 상징의 기능에 대해서 이론적으로 연구한 결과이다. 이를 위해 사회적 트라우마와 실존적 불안의 관계, 그리고 사회적 트라우마 상황 속에서 등장하는 트라우마 상징의 분석적 연구의 내용을 담고 있다. 이에 더하여 사회적 트라우마의 진정과 완화를 위해 목회 신학적 차원에서 트라우마 상징의 활용에 대해 제언하였다. 먼저 「사회적 트라우마와 불안」의 장에서는 어떠한 이유로 사람들은 자기가 직접 겪은 일도 아닌 사건으로 인해 불안을 형성하는지, 왜 그러한 사건이 개인의 실존을 넘어 공동체의 실존을 위협하는지에 대해서 파악하고자 한다. 이를 위해 사회적 트라우마의 개념과 불안의 개념, 그리고 사회적 트라우마와 불안 사이의 상관관계에 대해서 논하고자 한다. 「사회적 트라우마의 진정과 완화를 위한 공동체성 회복」의 장에서는 사회적 트라우마의 진정과 완화를 위한 공동체의 기능과 역할에 대해서 파악하고, 사회적 트라우마 상황 속에서 등장하는 트라우마 상징의 ‘함께 기억하기’, ‘함께 애도하기’, ‘함께 소망하고 희망하기’의 기능을 연구함으로써 사회적 트라우마로 인해 고통받는 사람들의 돌봄을 위해 도움이 되고자 한다. 마지막으로 「사회적 트라우마의 진정과 완화를 위한 목회 신학적 제언」의 장에서는 기독교적 영혼 돌봄의 관점에서 사회적 트라우마를 경험하고 있는 사람들에게 제공할 수 있는 기독교적 영혼 돌봄의 방법을 제언하고자 한다. 본 연구가 사회적 트라우마를 경험하고 있는 사람들이 트라우마 상징과 함께 트라우마로 인한 고통과 아픔을 진정시키고 완화시키는 작은 계기가 되기를 바란다.
Abstract
Currently, the Korean people are suffering from social trauma that has arisen from social issues such as the Sewol Ferry Disaster, the screen door Disaster at Guui Station, a murder case of a woman at Gangnam Station, and the wrongful consent involving Japanese military comfort women. The reason for such suffering is that social trauma causes existential instability that is difficult for people to cope with. In this context, people endeavor to endure and resolve anxiety in a variety of ways. I have been interested in the trauma symbols that emerge in the context of community and social traumas that manifest themselves in the form of collective memorials. This paper is the result of theoretical study on social trauma, community action, and the function of trauma symbols to calm and relax it. To this end, I studied the relationship between social trauma and existential anxiety, and studied analytically trauma symbols in social trauma situations. In addition, I added suggestions on the theological dimension for pastoral care in order to alleviate social trauma. First of all, I want to explore in the chapter of 「Social Trauma and Anxiety」, why people form anxiety due to events rather than their own experiences, and why such events threaten the existence of the community beyond individual existence. For this, I will discuss the concept of social trauma, the concept of anxiety, and the relationship between social trauma and anxiety. In the chapter 「Recovery Community for Relaxation of Social Trauma」, I want to explain the function and role of the community for social mediation and relaxation of social trauma, and in this chapter, I want to study the functions of the trauma symbol 'remembering together', 'mourning together', and 'hoping and hoping together'. These studies will be of great help in the care and healing of those suffering from social trauma. Finally, in the chapter 「Pastoral Theological Proposal for Relaxation of Social Trauma」, I would like to suggest methods of Christian spiritual healing that can be offered to those who experience social trauma from the perspective of Christian soul healing. I hope that this study will be a small opportunity for those who are experiencing social trauma to calm and ease the pain and suffering caused by trauma, including the role of the trauma symbol.
