Abstract
This study investigates the impacts of ethnic network on international trade. It empirically analyze the effects of Chinese ethnic network on exports and imports between China and Southeast Asian countries, while the previous studies focus on the effect of immigrant on trade in US and UK. In particular, we employ the gravity model to test the impact of Chinese ethnic network on trade. We show the evidence that Chinese ethnic network contributes exports and imports growth between China and Southeast Asian countries. In addition, we find that the effect of Chinese ethnic network on export is significantly different from that of imports. Finally, it is found that elasticity of ethnic network is high than that of the previous studies.
