Abstract
This article is to emphasize the role and importance of the university in the process of European integration and European Identity formation, through the historical investigation of Geneva University where J. Calvin carried out the Reformation in the modern european history. Switzerland has not joined in EU, but this country is connected in the European Countries by a deep internal knowledge network. If Brussels is the center of European politics and institutions, on the other hand Geneva can be seen as a center of European culture and acknowledge. The Geneva University was established by J. Calvin in 1559 like a "Geneva Academie", where is the cultural hub, not only as the Reformation of religion but also as the Reform of modern european society in the way of educational reform. This was called such as "the Rome of Protestant" and the heart of european acknowledge network. It is true that the Geneva University was created for the purpose for the Puritans. However this educational institution did not stay like another one making or strengthening a church. Geneva university had developed creating a 'European space' through the cross-border communication.
