Abstract
This article, which will be an introduction to the topic of printing during the transition and introduction of the Slavic cultural sphere from the Middle Ages to the modern era, will draw a planar view of the beginning and first phase of printing in the Slavic cultural sphere through the invention of metal type printing by Gutenberg and the early phase of printing, the so-called Incubation Period (1450s–1500), centered around Prague, Czech Republic, and the printing of the South Slavs centered around Venice. Through this process, we will reconstruct the route by which metal type printing, which was first invented on the Rhine River in Germany and popularized in Venice, Italy, was transmitted to the Slavic cultural sphere, and we will also trace the ultimate intention of printing in the Slavic cultural sphere in the 16th century.
