Abstract

Draghi government of Italy was launched under the political crisis of Conte II administration. Due to his high profile and internationally renowned reputation, Draghi could successfully implemented a series of reform measures that have been indispensable for Italian recovery amid pandemic. In particular, a huge mount of fund from the EU helped a lot in regaining economic growth in the 2021 with 6.5%. This paper tried to figure out the success story of Draghi as prime minister of Italy and at the same time what might be still wanted for the eventual normalization of Italian society. From what have shown up to now, Italian politics demonstrates enigmatic posture and therefore hard to yield any tangible outcome in terms of reforms, be it finance, public administration or justice. On the verge of next general elections due at 2023, major political parities will try to gain better terrain and in doing so there might be incessant conflicts among and within party system. In the end, it is confirmed that the evolutionary process of political change in Italy could only be grasped from the longer term perspective.
