사회실천적 정당화와 진리개연성 문제에 대한 비판적 고찰

이병덕 교수는 의무론적이고 내재론적이면서 정합론적인 개념을 포함하는 사회실천적 정당화 이론을 제안하면서 이 개념이 통상적인 진리개연성 문제까지도 해결할 수 있다고 주장한다. 이 문제 해결의 과정에서 그는 상호주관성의 차원을 넘어서는 객관성 개념’을 도입한다. 나는 그의 사회실천적 정당화 이론에 원칙적으로 동의하지만, 그가 구분하는 상호주관적 정당화와 객관적 정당화를 나눌 실질적인 방법이 없다는 점에서 진리개연성의 문제를 해결할 수 있다고 생각하지 않는다. 결론적으로 사회실천적 정당화의 근본 취지를 훼손하지 않으면서 진리개연성 문제를 해결할 수 있는 길은 결국 인식 정당성의 적절성 조건으로서 실재론적 진리 개념의 그림자가 드리워진 진리개연성 개념을 재고하는 데서 찾아야 함을 주장하고자 한다.
Abstract
Professor Lee Byung-deok suggests a theory of social-practical justification that includes a deontological, internalistic, and coherent concept of justification, and argues that this theory can solve the well-known truth-conduciveness problem. In the process of solving this problem, he introduces the concept of objectivity beyond the dimension of intersubjectivity. I agree in principle with his social-practical justification theory, but I do not think it can solve the problem of truth-conduciveness in that there is no practical way to distinguish objective justification from intersubjective justification. In conclusion, I argue that the right way to solve the problem of truth-conduciveness without undermining the fundamental purpose of the social-practical justification is to reject the concept of truth-conduciveness, which is shadowed by the realistic concept of truth.
