이병덕 교수는 지식을 객관적으로 정당화되는 믿음으로 정의하는 지식에 대한 새로운 설명을 제안하였다. 본 논문에서는 지식에 대한 이병덕 교수의 설명을 두 가지 측면에서 비판적으로 고찰할 것이다. 첫째, 본 논문에서는 지식에 대한 이병덕 교수의 설명이 게티어 문제를 해결하는 과정에서 딜레마에 직면하게 된다는 것을 보여줄 것이다. 둘째, 본 논문에서는 지식에 대한 이병덕 교수의 설명이 인식적 폐쇄 원리를 위배한다는 반론을 제기하고, 지식에 대한 이병덕 교수의 설명이 이 반론을 해결하는 과정에서 딜레마에 직면하게 된다는 것을 보여줄 것이다.
Abstract
Byeong D. Lee proposes an account of knowledge that defines knowledge as objectively justified belief. This paper critically examines his account of knowledge from two perspectives. First, it argues that his account of knowledge faces a dilemma in solving the Gettier problem. Second, it raises an objection that his account of knowledge violates the epistemic closure principles and shows that his account of knowledge faces a dilemma in solving this objection.
