인식정당화론에 관한 논의가 현재 우리에게 폭넓은 관심의 대상이 되지 못하고 있는 것은 인식론에 대한 자연주의적 접근과 로티식의 해체주의 등 영미철학의 최근 동향과 무관하지는 않지만, 관심의 촉구라는 차원에서 앞에서의 두 가지 접근 방식이 오히려 하나의 계기로 작용할 수 있으리라 생각한다. 물론 일련의 동향과 관련하여 철학적 의의에 대한 검토가 있어야 하겠지만, 이에 대한 검토는 문제의 원천이라 할 수 있는 ‘인식정당성 개념’에 대한 선행적 논의를 전제로 한다. 게다가 인식정당성 개념에 대한 선행적 논의 없이 일련의 흐름에 대한 올바른 평가 또한 기대하기 어렵다.본 논의에서 주목하는 것은, 전통적인 규범적 인식론이 갖는 철학적 의미에 관해 살펴보는 것이 선행되어야 한다는 차원에서 인식론의 핵심 개념이라 할 수 있는 ‘인식정당성 개념’을 둘러싸고 전개된 논의에 대해 그간의 성과를 짚어 보는 일이다. 이를 위한 일차적인 출발점이 논의의 핵심적인 전제인 참의 극대화와 거짓의 극소화라는 인식적 목표를 달성하기 위한 오류가능성의 차단에 있다고 한다면, 궁극적으로는 내외재론적 견해간의 본질적인 차이에 대한 확인 작업을 통해 인식론에 관한 논의가 왜 우리의 관심 영역에서 멀어질 수밖에 없었는가에 대한 이유를 되짚어 보게 하는 계기를 마련해 주는데 있다. 이것은 결국 인식정당화론에 새로운 활력을 불어 넣은 하나의 계기로 작용할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.
Abstract
This dissertation aims to the next two goals. First, in the study I will try to observe the philosophical meaning which has the traditional norm of epistemology. For this purpose, I will explore the result in what has been developed around 'the concept of epistemic justification' from the past to the present to be the focused concept of epistemology. Second, we will be able to confirm the essential differences of internalism and externalism in process which we search the various possibilities for interception of an fallibility to attain a epistemic aim. In conclusion, it will be provided the chance to turn back why we become aware of more than profound discussion regarding an epistemology distant from our interest.
