중등학교 교사의 다문화 역량 척도 개발에 관한 연구

초록

본 연구의 목적은 중등학교 교사의 다문화 역량을 측정하기 위한 척도를 개발하는 것이며, 개발된 척도에 대한 신뢰도 및 타당도 검증을 통한 향후 중등학교 교사의 다문화 역량 함양에 필요한 기초자료를 제공하는 데 그 의의가 있다. 이러한 연구목적을 달성하기 위하여 문헌분석 및 전문가 검토의 과정, 예비조사 및 본조사를 실시하였다. 특히, 본조사에서는 중등학교 교사을 대상으로 실시하여 최종 확정된 430명을 분석하였으며, 이에 대한 구체적인 연구결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 주성분 요인분석 및 베리멕스 방법(Varimax rotated)으로 회전시켜 활용한 탐색적 요인분석 결과에서, 중등학교 교사의 다문화 역량 척도의 하위요인 및 설문문항은 다문화 기술(요인1, 9문항), 다문화 태도(요인2, 9문항), 다문화 지식(요인3, 6문항) 등의 총 3개 하위요인과 24개 문항으로 최종 확정하였다. 둘째, 문항의 내적 일관성 신뢰도 분석을 실시한 결과, Cronbach’s 값이 .960로 매우 높게 나타났으며, 본 연구의 척도는 신뢰롭다고 볼 수 있다. 셋째, 확인적 요인분석 결과에서 잠재변인과 측정변인 간 모든 경로계수가 p=.000 수준에서 통계적으로 유의하게 나타났으며, 모든 C.R. 값도 1.965이상으로 적합하였다. 또한 확인적 요인분석 모형의 적합도 지수는 RMSEA=.078, IFI=.904, TLI=.901, CFI=.904로서, 모든 값이 양호한 적합도 수준을 충족시키는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 본 연구에서 개발한 중등학교 교사의 다문화 역량 척도는 중등학교 교사의 다문화 역량을 신뢰롭고 타당성 있게 측정할 수 있는 도구라고 볼 수 있다.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to develop a scale to measure secondary school teachers’ multicultural competency, and its significance is to provide basic data needed to cultivate secondary school teachers’ multicultural competency afterwards by verifying the developed scale’s reliability and validity. To attain the research goal, literature analysis, expert examination, and preliminary and main surveys were employed. Especially the main survey was conducted with 430 secondary school teachers, and the results were analyzed to gain detailed conclusions as follows: First, according to the results of exploratory factor analysis using main component factor analysis and Varimax rotation, secondary school teachers’ multicultural competency scale’s subfactors and survey questions were finally fixed as total 3 subfactors and 24 questions: multicultural skills (factor 1, 9 questions), multicultural attitudes (factor 2, 9 questions), and multicultural knowledge (factor 3, 6 questions). Second, according to the results of analyzing the questions’ internal consistency reliability, Cronbach’s value was found to be very high as .960, so the scale of this study can be regarded reliable. Third, according to the results of confirmatory factor analysis, all the path coefficients between latent variables and measurement variables were found to be statistically significant at the level of p=.000, and all the C.R. values were found to be appropriate as higher than 1.965. Also, about the goodness-of-fit index of the confirmatory factor analysis model, RMSEA=.078, IFI=.904, TLI=.901, and CFI=.904, so all the values satisfy the goodness-of-fit level favorably. In other words, secondary school teachers’ multicultural competency scale developed here can be considered as a tool that can measure secondary school teachers’ multicultural competency reliably and validly.
