중등학교 교사의 다문화 교수 역량에 대한 인식 분석

이 연구의 목적은 중등학교 교사의 다문화 교수 역량에 대한 인식을 알아보기 위함이며, 이를 위해, 경상북도 지역의 중등학교 교사 346명을 조사대상으로 하여 양적연구인 설문조사를 실시하였다. 중등학교 교사의 다문화 교수 역량의 하위영역으로는 다문화 수업 방법 및 기술, 다문화 관계 및 편견 관련 태도, 다문화 인식 및 존중 관련 지식 등의 3가지를 설정하였으며, 그 구체적인 연구결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 다문화가정 자녀 지도경험별 중등학교 교사의 다문화 교수 역량의 인식 차이 분석에서는 다문화 교수 역량 전체별, 다문화 수업 방법 및 기술 영역, 다문화 인식 및 존중 관련 지식 영역에서 ‘다문화가정 자녀 지도경험이 있다’라고 응답한 교사집단이 ‘지도경험이 없다’라고 응답한 교사집단보다 유의한 정도로 높게 인식하는 것으로 나타났으며, 둘째, 다문화 연수를 받은 횟수별 다문화 교수 역량의 인식 차이 분석에서는 다문화 교수 역량 전체별, 다문화 수업 방법 및 기술 영역, 다문화 인식 및 존중 관련 지식 영역에서 ‘다문화 연수를 3회 이상 받은 교사집단’이 ‘다문화 연수를 한 번도 받지 않은 교사집단’보다 유의한 정도로 높게 인식하는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 향후 다문화 수업 방법 및 기술 영역, 다문화 인식 및 존중 관련 지식 영역 등에 대한 인식 전환을 가져올 수 있도록 다문화 관련 교육 및 연수 기회를 확대할 필요가 있으며, 특히 중등학교 교사에게는 교육과정과 연계한 체계적인 다문화 관련 연수 기회 및 참여에 대한 정책적 배려가 요구된다.
Abstract
This study aims to examine secondary school teachers’ perception on their multicultural teaching competency. To attain the goal, a survey of quantitative research is conducted to 346 secondary school teachers in Gyeongsangbukdo. And the study has drawn its concrete conclusions as follows. First, according to the analysis on the difference of secondary school teachers’ perception on their multicultural teaching competency by their experience to teach multicultural family children, in the areas of overall multicultural teaching competency, multicultural teaching methods and skills, and multicultural perception and respect-related knowledge, the teacher group responding on ‘I have experience to teach multicultural family children’ indicate significantly higher perception than the teacher group choosing ‘I have no experience to teach them’. Second, according to the analysis on multicultural teaching competency by the frequency of getting multicultural training, in the areas of overall multicultural teaching competency, multicultural perception and respect-related knowledge, ‘the teacher group receiving multicultural training over 3 times’ indicates significantly higher perception than ‘the teacher group that has received none. Therefore, it is needed to increase the opportunities for multicultural education or training afterwards so as to convert their perception on the areas of multicultural teaching methods and skills and also multicultural perception and respect-related knowledge.
