본 연구는 우리나라 수출기업에 대한 미시자료와 산업별 실질실효환율을 이용하여환율과 수출기업 활동 간의 상관관계를 실증적으로 분석하였다. 분석 결과 환율의평가절상은 수출 기업의 수출, 수익성, 투자, 부가가치 등에 부(-)의 영향을 미치는데, 특히 규모가 큰 수출기업에 비해서 작은 수출기업이 환율 변화에 대해서 보다 민감하게 반응하는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 기업 규모별 개별기업의 요소소득 중에서는규모가 작은 수출기업의 자본소득이 가장 민감하게 반응하는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한분석결과는 중소 기업의 수출 지원 강화가 중요하며 이를 위해서는 중소 기업에게해외 시장정보 제공을 강화하고, 정책금융과 무역보험의 역할을 재정립할 필요가있으며, 자원의 신속한 조정 지원을 위한 무역조정지원 제도의 적용범위 확대에대해서도 논의가 필요하다는 점을 시사한다.
Abstract
Using micro-data on Korean exporting firms and industry-specific real effective exchange rates, we estimate the effect of exchange rates on exporting firms in this study. We find that the negative effect of exchange rate appreciation on real exports, profitability, investment, and the value added is most pronounced for small exporters and, for the factor income, the capital income of small exporters decreases the most. Our proposed policy directions are to reinforce the provision of market information for small firms, re-establish the roles of policy finance and trade insurance, and expand the application of the Trade Adjustment Assistance Program.
