본 논문에서는 초등영어교육에 있어 인공지능 도구의 효과성에 대한 연구의동향을 분석했다. KCI에 등재된 논문을 대상으로 ‘인공지능 도구’ 및 ‘초등영어’ 등의 키워드로 검색하였으며, 최종 분석 대상 29편의 논문을 통해 다음과같은 결론을 얻었다. 첫째, 초등영어교육에 있어 인공지능 도구의 효과에 관한연구는 매년 증가 추세에 있으며 실험 연구는 한 학급을 대상으로 하는 것이가장 일반적이었다. 가장 자주 활용된 인공지능 도구는 펭톡(PengTalk)이었으며발음 능력 향상에 가장 효과가 컸다. 또한 챗봇, 번역기, ChatGPT 등도 초등영어교육의 도구로서 긍정적인 효과를 보였다. 그러나 분석 대상 논문에 나타난적은 실험 참가자의 수, 짧은 실험 기간 등을 고려할 때 인공지능 도구의 효과성을 보다 정확히 검증하기 위해서는 실험 방법의 개선이 필요해 보인다.
Abstract
This paper analyzed the trends of experimental research on the effectiveness of artificial intelligence (AI) tools in elementary English education. KCI(Korea Citation Index) papers were searched using the key words such as ‘AI tools’ and ‘elementary English education’ to find the appropriate papers for the analysis. The following results were obtained through the analysis of 29 final papers. First, research on the effectiveness of AI tools in elementary education is on the rise every year. The most frequently used AI tool was PengTalk, and chatbots, translators, and ChatGPT were also used. PengTalk was the most effective in improving pronunciation, and it showed positive results for affective factors. The other AI tools were also effective in elementary English education. However, it seems necessary to improve the experimental methods to prove the effectiveness of AI tools on elementary English education in a more objective way.
