프랑스어 인용표지 ‘genre’의 발화 양태에 대한 고찰

초록

프랑스 청소년 구어체 담화에 빈번히 등장하는 담화 표지 ‘genre’는 해당 어휘의 문법화 과정에 대한 의미변화 연구, 해당 표지로 드러나는 화자의 의미･화용의 담화전략 연구, 이 표지의 사용이 빈번하게 드러나는 특정 집단의 독특한언어 사용 양상에 주목한 사회 언어학적 관점 연구 등 다양한 이론적 배경에서지금까지 논의되어 왔다. 본 연구는 해당 표지가 직접인용구문에서 드러내는 다양한 담화 정보 의미 값에 주목한다. 그리고 본 고는 이러한 의미 값을 직접인용구문에서 드러나는 발화 양태의 의미 양상으로 정의하고, 이를 발화행위이론의 틀 안에서 통합적으로 기술하였다. 특히, 전달 담화에서 화자가 직･간접적으로 개입하는 담화전략을 발화 책임 수행 작용으로 재조명해 적확히 설명해 내고자 한다. 또한 영어의 직접인용 표지 ‘be like’의 변이 양상과 비교해, ‘genre’ 가 유사한 언어적 변이와 실천을 보인다는 점에서 새롭게 등장하고 있는 구어의 전달 담화 양상을 범언어적 관점에서 설명해 낼 수 있을 것으로 본다. 본고는 인용표지 ‘genre’를 비규범적 언어 사용, 특정 집단의 구어적 습관, 무의미한 반복 등으로 규정하는 규범적 언어관에서 벗어나 변화하는 언어현상의 하나로 인용체계 내에 자리잡아 가고 있음을 해명하고자 했다.

Abstract

The discourse marker ‘genre’ frequently appearing in spoken discourse among French teenagers, has been discussed from various perspectives, including studies on the semantic change process of the vocabulary, analysis of the speaker's meaning and pragmatic discourse strategies revealed by this marker, and sociolinguistic perspectives focusing on distinctive language usage patterns within specific groups. This study emphazises on the diverse semantic values that ‘genre’ conveys when directly quoted in utterances. Within the domain of reported speech, we aim to provide a precise explanation of the discourse strategies in which speakers are directly or indirectly engaged, thus redefining them as performative acts of responsibility. Particularly, through a comparative examination of variation patterns found in the English direct speech marker ‘be like’, we try to shed light on emerging trends in spoken discourse from a cross-linguistic perspective. This research seeks to demonstrate that the usage of the quotation marker ‘genre’ is evolving and moving beyond normative language categorizations, which have classified it as nonstandard language usage, specific colloquial habits, or meaningless repetition. ‘Genre’ is establishing itself as a linguistic phenomenon within the quotation system, and this paper aims to elucidate its evolving role.
