『윤리형이상학』의 서론은 칸트(Immanuel Kant)가 자신의 실천 철학의 기획 의도를 주요 개념 구분들을 통해 제시하고, 본문에서 다룰 여러 주제와 논점에 대한 틀을 놓 는다는 목표 의식 아래 집필한 텍스트이다. 철학의 체계성에 대한 칸트의 확고한 신 념을 고려할 때, 『윤리형이상학』 서론이 철학적 텍스트로서 갖는 중요성은 분명하다. 그러나 서술 형식 등의 문제로 인해 이 저작에 대한 연구는 칸트의 다른 주요 저작들 에 비해 덜 이루어졌다. 이에 이 글은 이 텍스트에 나타난 칸트 실천 철학의 기획을 규명하고자 한다. 이를 위해 이 글은 우선 주요 개념들의 의미와 상호 관계를 밝힌다. 이 일차적 독해를 토대로 논문은 칸트의 실천 철학 기획의 중요한 특징이 인간의 의 지에 대한 두 가지 가정에 있음을 부각시킨다. 칸트의 실천 철학에는 인간의 의지가 실천 이성의 법칙수립의 객관이라는 가정과 이 의지가 법적 의지와 도덕적 의지로 양 분된다는 가정이 근본적이나, 충분한 설명 없이 전제된다. 이런 전제는 칸트의 철학 체계 이념에 비추어 문제적이므로, 칸트 실천 철학의 현재적 의미와 가치를 논함에 있어 검토되어야 할 지점이다.
Abstract
The introduction to the Metaphysics of Morals is a text that Kant wrote with the aim of outlining the objectives and structure of his project in practical philosophy. In it, he seeks to elucidate the central conceptual distinctions and their interrelations. This is particularly significant, as Kant places great emphasis on providing philosophy with a systematic order. Nevertheless, it must be noted that this text has been studied less intensively than Kant’s other major works, owing to its style of presentation and other formal aspects. Against this background, this paper aims to examine Kant’s project of practical philosophy as presented in this text in greater detail. It begins by analyzing the meaning of the central concepts and their interrelations. Based on this analysis, two fundamental assumptions are highlighted as characteristic of Kant’s project in practical philosophy, both of which concern the human will: first, the assumption that the human faculty of will is subject to the legislation of practical reason; and second, the assumption that the will is divided into two forms — the juridical will and the moral will. These assumptions are fundamental to Kant’s concept of practical philosophy but are introduced without sufficient explanation. This calls for closer examination, particularly with regard to the contemporary relevance and value of Kant’s practical philosophy.
