콜롬비아는 역내 최대 불법 금 생산국으로서 불법채굴은 가장 수익성 높은 범죄경제로 변모하고 있다. 콜롬비아의 불법채굴문제는 역내 다른 국가에 비해 경제적 측면뿐만 아니라 국가안보에 미치는 위협이 상대적으로 중요하게 작용하고 있다. 불법채굴은 단순한 법률위반을 넘어 폭력과 불평등 등 다양한 사회문제를 야기하고 있다. 이러한 상황에 주목하여 본 연구는 범죄경제학적 관점에서 콜롬비아 불법채굴의 경제적 유인, 사회구조 그리고 제도적 약점과의 연결성을 설명하고, 불법채굴이 야기하는 사회적 영향을 다각적으로 고찰하였다.
Abstract
Colombia has emerged as the region’s largest producer of illegal gold, with illicit mining becoming its most lucrative criminal economy. Unlike neighboring countries, Colombia faces serious national security threats alongside economic and social consequences. This study analyzes the economic incentives, social structures, and institutional weaknesses that sustain illicit mining in Colombia. Adopting a crime economics perspective, it also explores the broader social impacts, including violence, inequality, and weakened state authority.
