Abstract
· Research topics: The world is undergoing too much change with the COVID-19 pandemic. In the plight of the pandemic, we should take time to reflect on the infinite rush of anthropocentric material civilization. It is time to fundamentally examine and reflect the our lifestyle and behaviors that have been taken for granted. Accordingly, we explored the path to the right cultural growth of mankind through humanities knowledge of the Oriental classics, while considering the causes and ways to overcome the global challenge of COVID-19. It started with the hypothesis that everyday food would have a profound effect on the human body's five intestines from the perspective of curative science. · Research background: We carefully examined the food culture and eating habits of Korea and Western countries with the principle of yin-yang, the one is severely damaged and the other is relatively not damaged by COVID-19. · Differences from prior research: This study was the first attempt to analyze the correlation between regimen and COVID-19 infection from the perspective of Eastern biomedical and curative science. As a similar study, a study conducted by researchers at Northwestern University in Illinois, USA, showed a correlation analysis of COVID-19 infection according to coffee intake was published in “Nutrients”. · Research method: The reason why the difference in the infection rate and mortality rate of COVID-19 between the East and the West is high is explained by the principle of Yin-Yang and Five Elements, which is the core of regimen and Oriental medicine. · Research results: According to the core content of 『黃 帝內經』(Huang di nei jing - Yellow Emperor’s Inner Canon), Yin-Yang five elements of principles colour perspective, white-skinned species have a strong energy of the metal attribute. The energy of the metal attribute means that the lungs and large intestine are stronger than other five intestines. Therefore, the function of the lungs and large intestine are maintained smoothly, when the hot spicy taste of the energy is fully filled. However, Westerners have few spicy foods in their eating habits, and they usually drink bitter drinks such as coffee, which has only increased their energy of the fire attribute, making their lungs and large intestine weaker as fire restricting metal. On the same principle, our oriental race was born with a strong energy of the earth attribute stomach and spleen. However, our food culture shows that we like spicy food and we eat spicy food every day. When cooking, not only kimchi, hot spicy powder and red pepper paste are used, but also spices such as ginger and garlic are used. Although we are not born with the energy of the metal attribute, we became accustomed to hot spicy taste from an early age, and this eating habit has strongly trained the function of the lungs and large intestine. As a result, we pay attention to the Yin-Yang five elements of principles that we are strong against COVID-19 related to the lungs and large intestine thanks to the food we eat every day. · Contribution points and expected effects: Judging from this research, They encourage the world to shift the food culture paradigm to establish a good understanding of food and health in restoring the healthy lives of mankind and to promote the YinYang five elements of principles of the East.
