Abstract

· Research topics: Cho Un-sik is one of the representative local righteous army leaders who worked in Gyeongbuk and Chungbuk during the Korean Empire. This study attempted to examine Cho Un-sik's righteous army activities and righteous army management. · Research background: Righteous army is a major research topic in the history of the independence movement, therefore research has been active since the mid-1950s, but research on the leaders of the righteous army active in the province is still insufficient. Since Cho Un-sik is also one of those examples, research was conducted. · Differences from prior research: Until now, there has been no fully focused research on Cho Un-sik. This study is new in itself in that it is about Cho Un-sik. · Research method: Japanese reporting data which has judgment on Cho Un-sik and movement of Righteous army was used to examine. · Research results: At the end of 1907, Cho Un-sik was active mainly in Gyeongbuk and Chungbuk. At the time, he once held 500 men and planned to attack Daejeon Station after Ahn Jung-geun eliminated Ito Hirobumi but was arrested on November 27, 1909 and died on April 20, 1910. · Contributions and expected effect: By studying Cho Un-sik’s righteous army struggle and his management of the righteous army it has contributed to the identification of the performance of the righteous army leader activated in Gyeongbuk and Chungbuk
