본 연구의 목적은 PISA 2018 자료를 사용하여 국내 중·고등학생들의 직업선택 가치에 영향을 미치는 학생 및 학교 수준의 특성을 다층적으로 알아보는 것이다. 이를 위해 PISA 2018 설문에 참여한 만 15세 학생 6,650명의 응답 자료를 분석하였다. 연구방법으로는 다변량 2수준 위계선형모형을 적용하여 종속변수인 직업선택 가치를 내적(흥미, 적성 등), 외적(보수, 고용 기회 등), 관계적(부모, 친구의 기대) 가치로 구분한 후 독립변수가 없는 기초모형과 독립변수가 투입된 최종모형까지의 결과를 비교하였다. 분석 결과 수준별 변수들이 직업선택 가치를 설명하는 분산량은 학생 수준에서 평균 24.8%, 학교 수준에서 평균 0.4%로 대부분은 학생 간 차이에 의해 설명되고 있었다. 학생 수준에 투입된 변수 중에는 성별, 성취동기, 교내 직업관련 기술 습득 변수가, 학교 수준에서는 학교의 경쟁 분위기가 모든 종류의 직업선택 가치와 공통적으로 관련이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 대체로 내적, 외적 가치에 관련된 변수들은 비슷한 패턴을 나타냈지만 외적 가치에는 부모의 정서적 지지와 교외 직업관련 기술 습득이 추가적으로 유의한 예측력을 보였다. 또한 관계적 가치에 영향을 미치는 변수들은 나머지 두 가치에 미치는 변인들과는 다른 예측력을 보였다.
Abstract
This study analyzed the student and school characteristics that influence values for vocational choice of middle and high school students using the PISA 2018. The data included 6,650 15-year-old students who participated in the PISA survey. Values for vocational choice is categorized as intrinsic (e.g. interest, aptitude), extrinsic (e.g. salary, employment), and relational (e.g. expectations of parents and friends) values. We analyzed a multivariate, two-level hierarchical linear model from the unconditional model with no independent variables to the research model with all of the variables of interest. Results showed that the average variance in which student-level variables explained was 0.4 percent and the average variance in which school-level variables explained was 24.8 percent, displaying that most of the variance was explained by differences between students. Gender, achievement motivation, and skill acquisition related to career within school were found to be significant to predict all three values at the student level, while only competitive school environment was found to be significant at the school level. In general, variables related to intrinsic and extrinsic values showed similar patterns, but the extrinsic value had additional significant predictors such as parental emotional support and skill acquisition out-of school. In addition, the variables affecting the relational value demonstrated differential predictive power than the variables affecting the other two values, meaning that students took a different perspective on this choice in terms of considering their jobs.
