여성노동자의 생애이야기에 나타난 ‘개인’의 인식

이 연구는 20대부터 50대까지 41명의 여성노동자들의 구술생애사에 나타나는 생애단계별 자아 개념의 특징을 살펴보고, 이중 ‘개인’으로서 자기 인식의 전형성을 보여주는 4명의 집중적으로 분석하였다. 연구결과 생애사 분석을 통해 나타난 여성의 자아 개념의 특징은 개인으로서의 자기인식 속에도 타인에 대한 책임과 돌봄, 인정이라는 관계적 자아가 포함되어 있다는 점이다. 4명의 사례들은 원가족을 포함한 인간관계에서 상처받고 일을 통해 자아를 재구성해가고 있지만, 일 자체의 성취라기보다는 그일을 통해 다른 사람을 돌보고 소통함으로써 자신에 대한 개념까지 바꾸어가는 모습을 보여준다. 그런 점에서 여성의 ‘개인’ 인식, 타인과는 구분된 독립적 존재로서 자기 인식은 타인에 대한 책임을 포함한 개념이며,관계적 자아와 개별적 자아의 상호공존을 지향하는 의식이라고 정의할 수있다. 또 남성노동자의 생애사가 일 중심적 자아라는 특징을 가지고 있는데 비해, 여성노동자의 생애사는 일과 관계의 통합이라는 ‘일-관계 통합적자아’의 양상을 보여준다.
Abstract
This study investigates how a woman is going to recognize herself as an individual and what is the characteristics of woman's self-concept by analyzing women workers' narratives. 41 female workers from 20s to 50s residing in Gyeonggido participated in our research as narrators and 4 of them showed distinct self-concept as an individual. In this paper, we throw lights on the epitome of self-awareness of all of the narrators and especially make an intensive analysis on 4 distinguished cases. As the result of the focused analysis, it is confirmed that woman's ‘personal’ recognition as an independent existence distinct from others, is including the responsibility for others and the relational self concept.
