Abstract
We can find two opposing perspectives of interpreting the neoliberal globalization. One considers it as ‘an imperialist action of superpowers’(espe- cially, U.S.), and another consider it as ‘an action of Empire, that is, networks of several global power organs’ on top of which U.S. stands. I argue in this article that the former perspective does not have the potential to grasp the contemporary dynamics of class composition, and to read the global social formation of today. The core thesis of this article is that the neoliberal globalization of capital is determined by the constitutional struggles of productive classes which is independent of it. So this article strives to explain how the particular actions of capital and the restructuring process of society are influenced by the puissance of productive classes which moves from the bottom of society to the bottom of it. And this article emphasized the historical context which brought the shift from the imperialism to Empire. The attempt to define the neoliberal globalization as ‘an action of Empire’ is conscious of (and emphasized) ‘the constitutional puissance of mul- titudes’ which would overcome the rule of Empire. In this point, this theoretical attempt is opposing the standpoint which emphasize the unilateral superior power of capital, considering the neoliberal globalization as the continuation of old imperialism. The decisive defect of this standpoint is that the emphasis on the unilaterality of capital could not prefigure the resistant and constitutional action of multitudes, thus the problem of subjectivity would be confined in labyrinth or result in the introduction of the exterior savior.
