이 논문은 마르크스주의 계급론에 대한 비판적인 논의를 검토하고, 마르크스주의계급론의 무용론을 주장하는 논의들이 계급구조로부터 계급형성과 계급갈등을 설명하려는 계급구조 환원론의 오류를 범하고 있음을 지적한다. 20세기 후반에 이루어진 마르크스주의 계급론은 이러한 세 영역 사이의 관계를 분석하는 이론적, 경험적 연구들로 특징지어진다. 그러나 전 지구적 자본주의의 발달에도 불구하고 기존의 마르크스주의 계급론이 일국을 분석 단위로 함으로써 전 지구적 자본주의 발달에 따른 새로운 변화를 설명하는 데 한계를 지니고 있음을 지적하고, 전 지구적 자본주의의 등장에 따른 새로운 계급론의 필요성을 논의한다.
Abstract
This paper discusses the debate on the usefulness of the concept of class and ar- gues that the critiques of the concept of class made the same misunderstanding of class as the classical Marxism, failing to recognize theoretical difference among class structure, class formation and class struggle. However, recent class analyses in the late 20th century have been theoretical and empirical works, analyzing the relation- ship among class structure, class formation and class struggle. However, class theories are facing new challenges coming from globalization that reveals the limits of class theories in explaining new forms of class inequality and class dynamics in global capitalism. New discourses on class are much needed so as to explain class dynamics at the local and global level.
