‘자율주의’라고 지칭되고 있는 네그리와 하트의 작업에 대한 흔한 오해는 그것이해방 혹은 해방을 달성할 이상적 주체를 관념적으로 상정한다는 것이다. 이 논문은네그리와 하트가 말하는 ‘자율’의 의미와 그 현실적 전개의 조건을 밝힘으로써 그러한 오해를 불식하고자 한다. 잠재적이고 존재론적인 차원에서 자율은 세계를 구성하는 일원론적인 재료이자 힘이며, 그 때문에 권력과의 관계에서 우선성과 비대칭성이라는 귀결을 낳는다. 즉, 자율은 세계와 존재를 짓는 힘이고 그러한 한에서권력보다 우선하며 자율과 권력의 관계는 비대칭적이다. 그러나 이러한 잠재적·존재론적 자율은 정치적 조직화와 투쟁을 통한 현실화를 필요로 한다. 오늘날 정치적조직화의 조건은 삶정치적 생산이다. 삶정치적 생산은 주체에 의한 주체의 생산, 공통적인 것을 기반으로 한 공통적인 것의 생산을 특징으로 한다. 공통적인 것은사적 통제와 공적 통제 모두와 대립하므로 현재 자본은 점점 더 생산의 외부로 밀려나고 있다. 이러한 조건에서 네그리와 하트는 다중의 잠재적 자율을 현실화하는엑서더스를 주된 투쟁 전략으로 제시한다. 엑서더스는 단순한 탈주나 도주가 아닌주체의 자기변형을 수반하는 과정이다. 혁명은 엑서더스와 주체의 변신이 다중의자기통치로 이어지는 제도화 과정을 통해 달성된다.
Abstract
The most commonplace misconception about Negri and Hardt’s ‘autonomism’ is that it ideologically postulates liberation or the ideal subject that will achieve liberation. This paper aims to correct that misunderstanding by inquiring into the meaning and condition of ‘autonomy’. On an ontological level, autonomy is the monistic material and force that goes into constituting the world, and thus leads to its priority and asymmetry in relation to Power. This ontological autonomy, however, as it exists initially as a potentiality, needs to be actualized through political organization. Political organization today must refer to and be based on biopolitical production, which is characterized by the production of subject by subject and, in the same vein, the production of the common based on the common. As biopolitical production tends to occupy a hegemonic position in contemporary production, and the common is opposed to both public and private control, capital is now increasingly being expelled from production. Under these conditions, Negri and Hardt propose ‘exodus’ as the strategy of struggle to actualize the potential autonomy. Exodus is not simply flight or escape but a creative process which involves self-transformation of subject. And revolution is achieved when exodus and metamorphosis of subject lead, through institutionalization, to the self-governing of the multitude.
