이 논문은 1990년대 이후 마르크스주의 대안사회론 연구 분야에서 이루어진 성과들에 기초해, 마르크스의 대안사회론을 어소시에이션(Association) 개념을 중심으로 새롭게 해석하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 2절에서는 마르크스의 대안사회론은 어소시에이션 개념을 핵심으로 한다는 점에서 기존의 전통적 마르크스주의의 대안사회론과 결정적으로 다름을 보인다. 3절에서는 어소시에이션 개념을 키워드로 해 마르크스의 관련 텍스트를 읽는 방식으로 마르크스의 대안사회론이 초·중·후기에 걸쳐진화하는 과정을 검토한다. 이를 통해 1848년 혁명을 분수령으로 중·후기 이후 마르크스의 대안사회론은 초기 『공산당선언』의 국가 집권주의적 요소를 지양했을 뿐만 아니라, 1850년대 이후 경제학비판의 심화와 1860년대 국제노동자협회에서의실천, 1871년 파리 코뮨의 경험 등을 배경으로 해, 어소시에이션 개념을 이론적·실천적으로 구체화하는 방식으로 진화했음을 확인한다.
Abstract
This This paper attempts to develop an Associationist interpretation of Marx’s alternative to capitalism, represented by the studies of Tabata Minoru, Otani Teninosuke and Paresh Chattopadhyay. First, this paper extrapolates 10 elements of Marx’s postcapitalist vision, centering on the concept of Association and argues that they are totally missing or marginalized in traditional Marxist approaches to communism. Next, this paper periodizes the evolution of Marx’s postcapitalist vision into three phases with two breaks, the 1848 Revolution and 1871 Paris Commune. This is based on a textological reading of Marx’s related works, using Association as a main keyword. Marx tried to overcome his statist bias ― still visible in Manifesto of the Communist Party ― after the 1848 Revolution and proceeded to concretize the concept of Association, enabled by his deep study of political economy as well as practical engagement in the International Workingmen’s Association during the 1850s and 1860s. Eventually, Marx reformulated his concept of communism along Associationist or cooperativist lines after the Paris Commune of 1871.
