Abstract

The global economy is facing a second collapse due to the Coronavirus 19, a non-economic shock, under the continued fourth structural crisis. The global economic crisis, which overlaps with the economic crisis caused by the structural crisis and the Coronavirus 19, is expected to move toward an era of “rivalry of local barons” in which conflicts within powerful countries intensify as the Long Depression continues. Also, the Coronavirus 19 crisis makes it an urgent problem to transform fossil energy into eco-friendly renewable energy at the global level. On the other hand, the Korean economy, which features a neo-liberalistic chaebol system and a foreign-dependent economic structure, is expected to move toward a more serious economic crisis under the global Long Depression than the IMF crisis in 1997. This situation calls for a paradigm shift in the Korean economy. It is required to dismantle the neo-liberalistic chaebol system, which is the substance of the “Hell Joseon,” and shift to a “paradigm of democratization and socialization of the economy.” In the wake of the corporate bankruptcy crisis caused by the Long Depression, the government will break down the emperor-style ownership and governance structure of conglomerates and democratize and socialize it in various forms depending on size and industry. In addition, the government will carry out a transformation to eco-friendly renewable energy through planning and large-scale investment and coordination. It also guarantees human life for workers and the public by expanding the social security system in the course of a long-term economic paradigm shift, such as the Long Depression and industrial restructuring.
