루이 알튀세르와 질 들뢰즈, 안토니오 네그리와 에티엔 발리바르의 이론적 작업 이후 스피노자와 마르크스 사이에 긴밀한 정치적ㆍ지적 연관성이 존재할 수 있다는 생각은 오늘날 비판 이론 분야에서 널리 공유되는 공통 통념이 되었다. 이 논문은 이러한 선구적인 작업을 배경으로 하여 스피노자와 마르크스의 철학관의 공통적인 특성을 실천으로서의 철학이라는 개념에 따라 설명하고자 한다. 실천으로서의 철학은 일차적으로 지배에 대한 비판을 주요 요소로 삼고 있다. 스피노자는 『윤리학』 1부 부록과 『신학정치론』 서문에서 목적론적인 가상과 미신의 제도를 지배의 핵심으로 삼고 있다. 반면 마르크스는 초기 저술에서부터 자본주의 사회를 인간적 지배의 근본 구조로 파악하고 있다. 실천으로서의 철학의 두 번째 계기는 지배의 근본 특성을 해명하는 것인데, 이것은 소외라는 개념에 입각하여 이루어질 수 있다. 초기 마르크스 저술에서 지배의 핵심 원리로 제시된 소외 개념은 『자본』을 비롯한 후기 저술에서 가치 법칙과 상품 형식에 입각한 인간적 삶의 포괄적인 지배 원리로 확장되고 있다. 스피노자의 저술에는 소외라는 개념이 등장하지 않지만, 우리는 스피노자의 수동성과 예속 개념에서 마르크스의 소외 개념에 상당하는 지배의 원리를 파악할 수 있다고 생각한다. 프랑크 피슈바흐와 프레데릭 로르동의 최근 연구는 이를 잘 예시해주고 있는데, 이 글에서는 이들의 작업을 검토하면서 스피노자주의적인 소외 비판의 가능성을 탐구해볼 것이다. 실천으로서의 철학의 세 번째 요소는 해방이다. 마르크스는 자본주의 사회 구조 자체의 변혁을 추구하는 공산주의 혁명을 해방의 핵심으로 이해했으며, 스피노자는 수동성에서 능동성으로의 이행을 해방 또는 자유의 근간으로 파악했다. 우리는 스피노자의 “신을 향한 사랑”이라는 개념을 기반으로 해방의 조건들을 사고해보고자 한다.
Abstract
The idea that Spinoza and Marx share close political and intellectual connections has become widespread in the field of critical theory, after the work of Louis Althusser, Gilles Deleuze, Antonio Negri and Etienne Balibar. This paper aims to explain the intellectual connection between Spinoza and Marx based on three elements of philosophy as praxis. First, philosophy as praxis features a criticism of domination. Spinoza takes teleological illusions and superstitions to be the core of domination in the appendix of Part 1 of Ethics and Theologico-Political Treatise . On the other hand, from his early writings Marx understands capitalist society as the fundamental structure of human domination. The second element of philosophy as praxis is alienation, which explains the fundamental characteristics of domination. Presented as a core principle of domination in his early writings, Marx expands alienation into the comprehensive principle of the domination of human life based on the law of value and the commodity forms in later writings, including Capital . Although alienation does not appear in Spinoza's writings, we believe that one can grasp an equivalent principle in his concepts of passivity and servitude. The recent work of Franck Fischbach and Frédéric Lordon illustrates this well, and by reviewing their work we will explore the possibility of a spinozist critique of alienation. The third element of philosophy as praxis is liberation. Marx understood communist revolution, which seeks to transform the capitalist social structure itself, to be the core of liberation, and Spinoza identified the transition from passive to active as the basis of liberation or freedom. Finally, this article theorizes the conditions of liberation based on Spinoza’s concept of “love toward God”.
