마르크스 『자본』의 상품 및 화폐에 관한 최초 장들은 단순상품생산사회의 이론적지위를 둘러싸고 많은 논쟁의 대상이 되어 왔다. 동시에 이 장들은 그 난해함으로 인해 『자본』 독자들에게 악명을 떨쳐 왔다. 그런데 불행하게도 단순상품생산과 관련한 이론적 논쟁에서 전도유망한 입장(이들은 단순상품생산의 독립적 실존을 부정한다)들은 독서 전략으로 그다지 적합하지 않은 것으로 보인다. 이러한 이론의 지형과독자의 상황 속에서 이 논문은 설사 이론적으로 부담이 되고 문제를 야기한다고 여기지만 『자본』 독서 전략의 한 방편으로 단순상품생산을 자본주의 이전의 독립적단계로 간주하자고 제안한다.
Abstract
The first chapters of Marx's Capital on commodities and money have been the subject of heated debate over the theoretical status of the simple commodity production. At the same time, these chapters have gained notoriety among readers of Capital for their difficulties and ambiguities. Unfortunately, promising positions in the debate which deny independent existence of simple commodity production do not seem to be appropriate for reading strategies for Capital. Given this theoretical terrain and readers’ difficult situation, this paper, even theoretically burdensome and problematic, proposes to consider simple commodity production as a pre-capitalist stage as part of a reading strategy.
