결혼과 자녀의 ‘필요성’을 누가 수용하는가? 20∼30대 미혼여성의 인식 차이를 중심으로

본 연구의 목적은 결혼과 자녀의 필요성에 대한 미혼여성의 인식 차이를 파악하는 데 있다. 이를 위해 ‘8차 여성가족패널조사’ 자료를 활용했으며, 20∼30대 미혼여성 1,405명을 대상으로 분산분석과 다항로지스틱 분석을 실시했다. 결혼과 자녀의 필요성 인식을 네 유형으로 구분해 분석한 결과는 다음과 같다. 먼저, 결혼과 자녀의 필요성을 수용하는 ‘긍정형’은 15%에 불과한 한편 이를 모두 부정하는 유형이 59.7%를 차지했다. 결혼과 자녀의 필요성 중 하나만 수용하는 비율은 각각 7%, 18.2%였다. 둘째, 이들 유형은 삶의 질과 가족가치관에서 유의한 차이를 보였다. 행복감과 여가활동 만족도가 ‘긍정형’에서 가장 높았고 ‘부정형’이 가장 낮았다. 전통적 가족가치관은 ‘긍정형’에서 높게 나타난 한편 개인주의 가치관은 ‘부정형’에서 높았다. 셋째, 경제적 스트레스는 결혼 필요성만 수용하는 유형이 가장 높았다. 넷째, 행복감이 상승할 때 결혼과 자녀의 필요성을 수용할 가능성이 약 1.5배 증가했으며, 가족가치관도 이 필요성 수용에 영향을 미쳤다. 본 연구는 결혼과 자녀의 필요성에 대한 인식 ‘차이’와 삶의 질 요인이 이 인식에 미치는 영향을 밝힌 점에서 의의가 있으며, 정책적 함의에 대해 논의했다.
Abstract
This study examines the differences in perceptions of unmarried women about the need for marriage and children. Perception type-based analyses were conducted on 1,405 people in their 20s and 30s using ‘the 8th Korean Longitudinal Survey of Women and Families’. The findings were as follows: First, in the perception of the need for marriage and children, the ‘negative type’ accounted for 59.7%, while the ‘positive type’ was only 15%. The types of accepting only one of the necessities for marriage and children were 7% and 18.2%, respectively. Second, the types showed significant differences in quality of life and family values. Happiness and satisfaction with leisure activities were the highest in the ‘positive type’ and the lowest in the ‘negative type’. The level of traditional values was high in the ‘positive type’, while the individualistic value was high in the ‘negative type’. Third, economic stress was the highest in accepting only the need for marriage. Fourth, the possibility of acceptance of the need for marriage and children increased about 1.5 times when happiness increased, and family values also affected it. This study revealed the differences in the perception of the need for marriage and children and the effect of quality of life factors on this perception and discussed the policy implications.
