All IP Standardization on IMT-2000 and Beyond

The mobile Internet is bringing a revolution in society with its ability to combine voice, picture, and video service in new ways that closely match user's need. This paper describes the standardization of all IP technologies which is the basis of the mobile Internet and/or wireless packet data service. In this paper, we investigate the progress of 3GPP and 3GPP2 on all IP standards work outlining the requirement and reference architectural differences between the two PPs. To achieve common global network standard for IMT-2000 and beyond, ITU-R/T established WP8F and SSG (Special Study Group) on IMT-2000 and Beyond with their long term vision and objective. We investigate the initial vision work of IMT-2000 and beyond undertaken by ITU-R WP8F and ITU-T SSG. We conclude the overall status of all IP standardization and propose some future directions of all IP standardization.
