元代 色目詩人 馬祖常 시가에 나타난 현실 인식 고찰

馬祖常은 조상 대대로 중원에서 관리를 한 집안에서 태어났다. 특히, 元代에 관리였던 부친에게 儒家의 사상을 학습하였으며, 새로 부활한 과거시험에 합격하면서 관리 생활을 시작하였다. 과거시험에 대한 준비를 통해 형성된 유가 사상은 그의 사상의 근간이 되었으며, 한족과 달리 색목인이라는 특수한 신분으로 원대의 정치에 참여하였다. 그의 시가 창작은 초기에는 원대가 흥성 시기였기에 원대의 태평을 주로 표현하였다. 그러나 후기로 가면서 원대의 정치와 사회 혼란은 마조상에게 현실을 직시하게 하였으며, 마조상은 愛國愛民의 심정으로 현실사회의 면면을 시가로 창작하였다. 마조상의 시가에 표현된 현실 인식은 愛民認識의 表現, 統治集團에 대한 批判, 國事에 대한 關心 등으로 나타나고 있다. 愛民認識의 表現에서는 주로 백성들의 고통을 묘사하거나 이들을 동정하는 것으로 표현되었다. 統治集團에 대한 批判은 주로 통치 집단의 사치와 향락을 비판하는 내용으로 묘사되었다. 國事에 대한 關心 부분에서는 관리의 올바른 덕목을 강조하며 혼란한 사회를 우려하는 심정을 바탕으로 국운의 쇠락에 대한 걱정을 완곡하게 표현하였다. 원대의 혼란한 현실사회에서 마조상은 백성들의 고통을 대변하고 동정하며,또 통치 집단의 사치와 향락을 비판하면서 국운을 걱정한 시인이라고 할 수 있다. 따라서 몽고족 통치의 원대라는 특수한 시대에서 색목인이라는 특수한 민족인 마조상은 원대 시단에서 의미 있는 현실주의 시인이라고 할 수 있다.
Abstract
Ma Zuchang was born into a family that had served as government officials in the Central Plains for generations. In particular, he studied Confucian philosophy under the guidance of his father, who was an official during the Yuan Dynasty. After passing the newly reinstated imperial examination, he began his career as a government official. The Confucian values he cultivated during his preparation for the examination became the foundation of his ideology. Unlike the Han Chinese, he participated in Yuan politics as a member of the Semu ethnic group, a unique identity in the Yuan Dynasty. In the early stages of his poetic creation, Ma Zuchang primarily expressed the prosperity and peace of the Yuan Dynasty, as it was a period of flourishing development. However, as time progressed and the political and social turmoil of the Yuan Dynasty intensified, Ma Zuchang began to confront these realities. Motivated by a deep sense of patriotism and compassion for the people, he reflected various aspects of the turbulent society in his poetry. The perception of reality expressed in Ma Zuchang’s poetry is manifested through themes such as compassion for the people, criticism of the ruling elite, and concern for national affairs. His expressions of compassion for the people often depict their suffering or convey sympathy for their plight. Criticism of the ruling elite is mainly characterized by condemnation of their extravagance and indulgence in pleasures. As for his concern for national affairs, he emphasized the virtues required of government officials, expressed worries about the disorder in society, and subtly conveyed his anxiety over the decline of the nation’s fortunes. In the chaotic social realities of the Yuan Dynasty, Ma Zuchang can be seen as a poet who represented and sympathized with the suffering of the people, criticized the extravagance and indulgence of the ruling elite, and expressed concern for the nation's fate. Thus, as a member of the Semu ethnic group in the unique historical context of Mongol rule during the Yuan Dynasty, Ma Zuchang holds significance as a realist poet within the literary circles of the Yuan era.
