2011년 7월 Pre-4G 이동통신으로 불리는 LTE(Long Term Evolution) 기술이 한국에서 상용서비스가 개시되었다. 그리고 2008년부터 국제전기통신연합(ITU)를 중심으로 진행된 4세대 이동통신(IMT-Advanced) 표준화는 이제마무리 단계로 향하고 있고 2012년 1월에 개최될 RA-12를 통해 국제표준으로 최종 승인될 예정이다. 본 논문을 통해 IMT-Advanced 기술인 3GPP의 LTE-Advanced와 IEEE에 WirelessMAN-Advanced 기술에 대해 살펴보고 향후 두 기술의 진화 방향에 대해 예상해 보았다.
Abstract
LTE(Long Term Evolution), so-called Pre-4G or 3.9G, commercial service started from July 2011 in Korea. Now the standardization on IMT-Advanced (4G) progressed by ITU from 2008 is approaching to the finalization, and that Recommendation will be approved by RA-12 which will be held on early of 2012. In this paper, we would like to review the 3GPP LTE-Advanced and IEEE WirelessMAN-Advanced as technologies of IMT-Advanced and expect the evolution of both technologies.
