Abstract
Most enterprises and research groups today generate data too big to process. Such data is generally called “big data” and its effective management/analysis/visualization is believed to create unimaginable insights and values. However, there is no universal definition of big data yet because depending upon conventional analysis practices different domains could use different yardsticks that tell how much data should be called big data. The volume of textual cadaster analyzed in Korean history studies may not be big enough in terms of the actual size of data stored in a DB, but the conventional analysis of the data takes too long to finish, so we argue that it can also be called big data in the domain. We discuss about the conventional analysis process of textual cadaster. Then we propose a novel visualization based on a more compact node-link diagram that increases the scalability of the existing cadaster visualization.
