유헬스(ubiquitous health, u-health)는 국내에서 산업화의 가능성이 아주 크고, 환자 및 의료진의 편의성을 비약적으로 향상시킬 것이라는 기대로, 많은 투자와 함께 다양한 시범사업이 진행되었다. 그러나 관련 법규를 비롯한 다른 장애요인들을 극복하지 못하여 유헬스 서비스가 확산되지 못하고 관련 시장이 성장하지 못하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 u-health의 새로운 돌파구로서 스마트폰을 이용한 모바일 헬스(mobile Health, mHealth) 개념을 정의하고, 이와 관련된 국내외 동향, 적용분야 등을 소개하였다. 특히 mHealth와 연결된 u-health 기기들, mHealth의 허브로서 모바일 개인건강기록(mobile Personal Health Record)를 알아보고, mHealth를 적극적으로 추진 중인 국내 병원 사례를 소개하였다. 이를 통해 스마트폰을 활용한 mHealth가 u-health 서비스와 산업을 부흥시킬 새로운 돌파구가 될 수 있음을 보여주고자 하였다.
Abstract
Ubiquitous health (u-health) has been highlighted as new healthcare delivery system to improve the convenience of patients or physician, and one of major business opportunities. Therefore, lots of investments from government and private companies have been made to realize u-health. However, due to the regulations and other barriers, this service has not been disseminated and industrialized as expected. In this article, mobile health (mHealth) based on smartphone was introduced as a new breakthrough for u-health. After presenting the concept of mHealth, the global trend and application areas of mHealth was shown. Especially, mobile personal health record as the hub of mHealth and mHealth devices was introduced. Also, the representative example of mHealth in a Korean hospital was proposed. As a result, we wanted to demonstrate mHealth with smartphone will be the breakthrough to promote u-Health services and industries.
