Abstract
Health technologies for unconscious/uninhibited health management in everyday life is a topic of active research due to recent developments in IT technologies and increased focus on personal health. This research presents a smart wearable healthcare system based on smart textile fabric to provide non-obstructive, continuous monitoring of biometric signals. A key consideration for wearable, real-time monitoring is the distortion in the overall measured signal due to baseline wander noise in the range of 0~2Hz caused by motion artifacts. In this paper we implement a wearable healthcare system and employ an adaptive linear prediction filter to address the issue of baseline wander. The performance of a standard filter was compared to evaluate the applicability for baseline removal in ECG signals. From the results we conclude that with our system, non-inhibitive, real-time ECG measurement of patients in everyday life with minimal baseline wander is possible. Additionally, we propose a multi-hop routing protocol for fast transfer of biometric signals to facilitate remote monitoring through a wireless sensor network.
