본 논문에서는 ITU-T SG13, ITU-T SG16 및 다른 표준화 기구에서 진행 중인 N 스크린 서비스 표준화 동향에 대해 알아본다. N 스크린이란 하나의 콘텐츠를 공통된 운영 플랫폼을 사용하는 다양한 디바이스의 스크린을 통해 끊김 없이 이용할 수 있는 서비스를 말한다. ITU-T SG13에서 N스크린 서비스를 크게 3가지 시나리오로 구분하여 기술 하였고 플랫폼 형태에 따라 Platform, Device, Discrete 및 Hybrid 와 같이 4가지 형태로 나누었다. ITU-T SG16는 아직 표준화 초기 단계로 IPTV 환경에서의 N 스크린 서비스에 대한 사용 사례 및 구조에 대한 표준화를 진행 중이다. 이외에 HTML5 및 DLNA와 같이 다른 표준단체에서 제안한 표준기술을 기반으로 한 N 스크린 서비스들에 대한 표준화가 진행되고 있다. 또한 N 스크린 서비스 활성화를 위해 필요한 정책 및 규제 개선방향의 필요성에 대해서도 제시하였다.
Abstract
In this paper, the standardization trend of N screen services and platform, which are defined by ITU-T SG13 and ITU-T SG16 are discussed. N screen is a kind of service that enables sharing a content simultaneously through various smart device’s screens. In ITU-T SG16, there are three kinds of main service scenarios and four types of platforms (ex. Platform, Device, Discrete, and Hybrid). ITU-T SG16 is a fundamental step towards N screen standardization which is based on the use cases and architecture for N screen services, as an extension of IPTV services. Moreover, other proposed standards such as HTML5 and DLNA based techniques for N screen services are underway.
