본 논문은 국내 유무선 전화서비스 시장에 관한 1996년부터 2002년까지의 월별 시계열자료를 활용하여 통화수요의 유무선대체 현상을 분석하는 것이다. 추정결과는 유선발신통화(LL과 LM)의 점유율이 이동전화 발신요금에 대비 한 유선발신요금의 상대가격과 이동전화 가입자수와는 역의 관계에 있지만 유선전화 가입자수와는 정의 관계에 있음을 보여준다. 유선발신통화간의 경쟁에서도 유사한 결과가 도출되었다. 즉, LL 통화의 점유율은 LM 통화요금에 대 비한 LL통화요금의 상대가격과 이동전화 가입자수와 역의 관계에 있지만 유선전화 가입자수와는 정의 관계에 있는 것으로 추정되었다. 한편 이동전화발신통화(ML과 MM)간에는 요금의 차이가 존재하지 않으므로 가입자수의 영향만 추정되었는데 ML 통화의 점유율이 이동전화 가입자수와 역의 관계에 있지만 유선전화 가입자수와는 정의 관계에 있는것으로 나타났다.
Abstract
This paper estimates a fixed-mobile substitution model of Korean telephony markets using monthly data during 1996~2002. It is shown that the share of land-originating calls(LL and LM calls) out of all calls is inversely related to the price of land- originating calls relative to the price of mobile-originating calls and to the number of mobile subscribers, but is positively related to the number of fixed subscribers. The similar results are obtained for the share of LL calls out of land-originating calls and for the share of ML calls out of mobileoriginating calls.
