본 연구는 청소년들의 부정적인 스트레스와 자살사고간의 관계에서 사회적인 문제해결, 자존감, 무망감이 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 중재효과와 매개효과의 검증을 통해 알아보고자 하였다. 연구 대상자는 고등학교 재학 중인 1학년과 2학년 남녀 343명(남자 179명, 여자 164명)이며 연구 도구는 부정적인 스트레스 척도, 사회적 문제해결척도, 자존감척도, 무망감척도, 자살사고척도 등이다. 이들 변인간의 관계를 알아보기 위해 상관분석을 실시하였고, 지난 과거력과 지난 일년 동안의 자살 과거력을 통제하고 난 후 부정적 스트레스, 사회적 문제해결, 자존감, 무망감이 자살사고를 얼마나 유의하게 설명해 주는지를 알아보기 위해 위계적 중다회귀분석을 실시하였다. 동시에 이들 간의 매개효과를 살펴보기 위해 경로분석을 실시하였다. 그 결과 부정적인 스트레스는 자살 과거력을 통제하고 난 후에도 자살사고를 유의하게 설명해 주었고 사회적 문제해결, 자존감, 무망감 등도 각각 자살사고를 유의하게 설명하였다. 그러나 중재효과를 알아보기 위한 상호작용의 경우, 부정적인 스트레스와 사회적인 문제해결과 부정적인 스트레스와 자존감의 상호작용만 유의하였다. 매개효과 검증 결과는 사회적인 문제해결과 무망감이 청소년의 부정적인 스트레스와 자살사고의 관계를 완전히 매개하지 못하였고 부분적으로 매개할 가능성을 시사하였다. 마지막으로 연구의 제한점을 논의하였다.

Abstract

The issue of moderating and mediating effects of self esteem and hopelessness of adolescents on the relationship between negative stress and suicidal ideation was addressed in this study. A group of 343 male and female high school students in the first and second year were surveyed. The instruments for measuring the factors were negative life stress scale, social problem solving inventory, self-esteem scale, Beck hopeless scale, and suicidal ideation scale. To test the relationship between the variables and suicide, hierarchical multi-variate regression analysis was implemented. The history of suicide was controlled in the analysis, then it was examined how well suicidal accidents were explained significantly by the variables such as negative life stress, social problem solving inventory, self-esteem, and hopelessness. As a result, there was a significant relationship between negative life stress and suicidal accidents even though the history of suicide was controlled. Social problem solving, self esteem, hopelessness also showed a certain level of significance in relation with suicidal accidents. In the case of interaction effect for testing moderation effect, negative life stress and social problem solving, negative life stress and self-esteem only had some interaction among the variables. For the mediating effect, the result showed that the two variables, which were social problem solving and hopelessness, did not mediate the relationship between negative stress and suicidal ideation strongly, but mediated the relationship partially.
