이공계와 인문사회계 연구자의 연구활동 및 환경인식 차이 분석: WCU, SSK, HK 사업 참여 연구자를 중심으로

본 연구에서는 WCU, SSK, HK 사업에 참여하는 국가 핵심 연구인력들의 연구활동 및 연구환경에 대한 인식차이를 전공계열별로 비교･분석 하였다. 또한, 연구인력을 전문가 집단인 교수집단과 준전문가집단인 대학원학생집단으로 구분하여, 이들의 연구활동 차이를 검토하였다. 연구의 결과, 전공계열에 따라 연구활동과 관련된 시간 사용이 통계적으로 유의미한 차이를 나타냈는데, 인문･사회과학 계열의 연구자들인 경우에는 논문･책 읽기 및 논문쓰기에 이공계열 연구자들보다 많은 시간을 사용하였다. 또한, 이공계열 연구자들의 경우에는 학생 지도, 연구회의참석이나 실험에 인문･사회과학 계열 연구자들보다 많은 시간을 사용하였는데, 이는 전공계열별 특성을 드러내 주는 시간 사용결과로 볼 수 있을 것이다. 연구자들의 연구환경에 대한 인식에 있어서 본 연구의 결과는 각 사업에 참여 하는 대부분의 연구인력들이 행정부담 및 창조적 연구지원에 상당한 어려움을 겪고 있는 것을 보여주고 있다. WCU, SSK, HK사업에 참여하는 연구자들 사이에도 연구활동 및 연구환경인식 차이가 나타났는데, 본 연구의 결과들을 고려하여 인재 육성･지원정책을 체계적으로 개선할 때 우리나라 연구인력의 연구성과는 향상될 수 있을 것이다.
Abstract
This study conducts comparative analysis of research activities and the perceptions of research environments among national core researchers who have participated in the WCU, SSK, HK projects, based on their specialties. The researchers are divided into two groups: experts, composed of university professors, and semi‐experts, composed of graduate students. Research findings show that the amounts of time spent on research activities are statistically significantly different depending on the specialties of the researchers. Researchers who specialize in the humanities and social sciences are found to spend more time reading articles or books as well as writing papers than researchers who specialize in the natural sciences and engineering. And researchers who specialize in the natural sciences and engineering are likely to spend more time advising students and participating in research conferences or experiments than those who specialize in the humanities and social sciences. These results show critical differences in the characteristics of specialties or research fields. Regarding the perception of the research environments, it is found that most researchers who participated in the WCU, SSK, and HK projects may have difficulties associated with administrative work and lack of support for creative research. When human resource development policies are improved or systemically developed based on these findings, the performance of Korean research workforce will be improved.
