이 연구는 제4차 산업혁명과 함께 회자되는 문명 패러다임 변혁에 따라 교육이 나아가야 할 방향과 이에 따르는 정책 과제를 탐색한 시론(試論)이다. 이를 위하여 문명 패러다임의 변혁에 따른 특징을 확인하였고, 이에 따른 교육 패러다임을 상정하여 새로운 패러다임에서 드러나는 특징, 야기되는 문제 등을 다루어 보았다. 이 연구는 문명사적 전환을 확인할 수 있는 다양한 문헌과 자료를 분석하였으며, 기존의 교육 패러다임에서 다루어진 문제를 파악할 수 있는 연구보고서를 참조하였다. 연구의 결과, 우리는 새로운 패러다임은 새로운 인재상을 요구한다는 점, 새로운 교육 체제를 구축해야 한다는 점 등을 확인할 수 있다. 새로운 인재상은 암묵적 앎을 위주로 하는 융합적 능력과 메타 인지능력을 갖춘 인재라고 정리할 수 있다. 이 연구는 무엇보다도 새로운 패러다임은 교육현장에서 일어나는 일을 중시해야 한다는 점을 강조한다. 물론 교육현장을 존중해야 한다는 실천을 강조하는 여러 가지 이론과 주장이 이어져 왔다. 그들은 주로 knowing-that을 벗어나서 knowing-how에 초점을 맞추어야 한다는 주장이었다. 그러나 패러다임 변혁은 이를 넘어서 knowing-where가 요구된다는 점을 우리는 기억할 필요가 있다.
Abstract
Purpose: This paper examined the coming paradigm shift as well as the fourth industrial revolution in order to establish new directions for educational practices and discourses. Some quite distinct features among the three civilization paradigms were confirmed to set up three corresponding education paradigms respectively. From the arguments based on these, some significant directions for educational policies were suggested. Approach: For the purpose described above, some books and materials concerning civilization paradigms were analyzed. A few KEDI reports were also taken into account. Findings: As a result, we can recognize that the new paradigm requires a model in which humans can exercise meta-fusion capacities accompanied by tacit knowledge. According to this, humans in the past have never failed to fundamentally re-examine school organization, educational administration systems, evaluation and research systems etc., in the light of a new paradigm. Value: A main emphasis should be focused on educational practices. Although, under the previous paradigm, educational practices were taken seriously, the new paradigm requires a different outlook. Whereas practice was previously based more on the significant dichotomy between knowing something and knowing how to do something, the new paradigm requires us to go beyond this dichotomy so as to acquire capacities regarding knowing where something is, which can be defined in terms of the fourth industrial revolution.
