자기주도적 학습태도 및 학습전략의 사용과 학업성취간의 관계

본 연구는 학생들의 학습에 대한 동기나 자아개념과 자기주도적 학습태도와 인지 및 메타인지 학습전략의 사용이 학업성취에 어떤 영향을 미치는지를 탐색하고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 2003년 6월에 실시된 OECD 국제학업성취도연구(Programme for International Student Assessment; 이하 PISA) 2주기 연구 자료를 사용하여 수학소양점수에 이러한 자기주도적 학습태도가 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 연구대상은 2003년도 6월에 PISA 연구에 참여한 149개 학교 5,444명의 학생들로, 모두 만 15세 학생들로 대부분 고등학교 1학년에 재학 중이었다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 우리나라 학생들은 다른 OECD 국가의 학생들에 비하여 자기주도적 학습태도가 상대적으로 낮은 것으로 나타났으나, 자기주도적 학습태도와 학업성취 간의 관계는 훨씬 더 강한 것으로 나타났다. 특히, 우리나라 학생들의 경우 메타인지 학습전략인 통제전략의 사용과 학습동기가 학업성취에 미치는 효과가 다른 OECD 국가 학생들에 비하여 매우 큰 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 앞으로 자기주도적 학습태도 및 학습전략의 사용과 학업성취간의 인과관계 규명을 위한 추가적인 연구가 이루어져야 할 것이며, 이를 토대로 학생들의 자기주도적 학습태도 습득을 장려할 수 있는 교수법에 대한 연구와 같이 자기주도적 학습태도에 영향을 미치는 요인들에 대한 추가적 연구가 이루어져야 할 것이다.

Abstract

This study tried to explore how students' self-regulated learning such as their interest and self-concept in subject matter, use of cognitive and meta-cognitive learning strategies affect their academic performance. To do this, this study analyzed the raw data of OECD Programme for International Student Assessment(PISA) 2003. PISA was conducted to more than 20,000 15-year-old students in 30 OECD countries in 2003. Also, more detailed analyses were conducted for Korean student data. It was consisted of 5,444 15-year-old students in 149 schools and most of them were attending the first grade in high school. The results showed that Korean students are much less interested in mathematics and have lower self-concept and self-efficacy in mathematics, but as the relationships between self-regulated learning and mathematical literacy were much stronger than other students in OECD countries. Especially the use of control strategy as a meta-cognitive strategy and students' interest in mathematics had much stronger effect on student performance for Korean data. Based on this findings, further studies on the causal relationships between domains of self-regulated learning and students' performance should be continued and studies on the effective teaching method for self-regulated learning should also be continued.
