사이버상담으로 호소된 남자 청소년의 동성애 관련 문제 연구
A Qualitative Study related to Homosexuality of Male Adolescents Appealed by Cyber Counseling

본 연구는 사이버상담에서 나타난 남자 청소년들의 동성애 관련 호소 문제들의 특징을 알아보고자 사이버상담에서 동성애 관련 문제를 호소하는 만 14세에서 19세의 청소년 사례 11개를 합의에 의한 질적 연구(CQR: Consensual Qualitative Research) 방법으로 분석하였다. 연구결과는 최종적으로 동성애에 대한 자기인식, 동성애로 해석하는 성격 및 개인환경 특성, 동성애에 대한 자기와 타인의 불수용 및 동성애 관련 대처행동 등의 4개의 영역과 14개의 범주로 구분되었다. 사이버상담사례에서 나타난 남자청소년들의 동성애에 대한 자기인식 영역에서는 양가감정으로 혼란스러워하는 경우가 많았으며, 동성애를 인식하게 된 계기, 그리고 동성에 대한 관심 및 호기심, 애정적 지향, 성적 지향 등 자신이 느끼는 감정들에 대한 의문 제기, 그리고 동성애 관련 행동 등을 볼 수 있었다. 또한 여성적인 성격이나 말투, 혹은 자신의 개인환경 특성을 가지고 동성애로 해석하는 경우가 많았으며, 이러한 동성애를 고민하는 남자 청소년의 경우에는 스스로도 수용하지 못하는 내재화된 혐오감이 있고, 주변으로부터도 수용 받지 못하는 경험을 하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이렇게 동성애 문제로 고민하는 남자 청소년들의 경우 대부분이 동성애를 극복/치료해야 하는 것으로 생각하고 있었으며 이를 위해 의도적으로 이성에게 관심을 기울이거나 혹은 좋아하는 동성을 피하는 것, 혼자 참기, 또는 일탈행동(음주 등) 등의 대처행동을 보이고 있었으며 상담을 요청하는 경우에도 자신이 정말 동성애자인지 진단을 내려주기를 바라는 모습이 가장 많이 나타났다. 이렇게 살펴본 본 연구의 의의는 청소년의 동성애 관련 문제를 보다 구체화하여 제시함으로써 상담자의 준비도를 높일 수 있고, 청소년 내담자들이 동성애로 인해 실제 고민하고 있는 내용들을 탐색할 수 있는 계기를 마련하였으나, 사이버상담의 사례만을 분석대상으로 하였다는 제한점을 가지고 있다. 그러나 본 연구결과는 남자 청소년들이 동성애와 관련하여 고민하고 있는 주제들을 구체적으로 탐색해 봄으로써 청소년들의 동성애 관련 호소문제에 대한 전문적인 상담 및 개입전략을 수립하는데 기초적인 자료를 제시할 것으로 기대한다.
Abstract
In order to identify characteristics of appealing of male adolescents on homosexuality in cyber counseling, eleven cases of adolescents between 14 and 19 years old who appealed of homosexual problems were analyzed by consensual qualitative research (CQR). The results of the research were classified into four domains and sixteen categories. As for the self-perception domain on homosexuality of male adolescents in cyber counseling, they tended to have interest in the opposite sex but to be confused ambivalence that they are attracted by the same sex. They might light upon information related to homosexuality and suffer from it, or might worry about themselves because they see the same sex as a subject of affection or sexual arousal as they see the opposite sex. Most of the subjects appealed that they might be attracted by the same sex because of their feminine characteristics or way of speaking or their circumstances. Some of the male adolescents who suffer from homosexuality showed intrinsic hatred on homosexuality by expressing extreme repugnance against homosexuality. Also, they had stress because they confessed their feeling to ones of the same sex whom they were interested in but to be rejected or to be made fun of by peers, and such stress made them be impeded of studies or get unhealthy. Most of the male adolescents who suffer from homosexuality thought that homosexuality was something to be overcome or to be treated, and in consequent showed coping behaviors including intentional interest in the opposite sex, avoiding ones of the same sex whom they like, or suppression by themselves. Even when asking counseling, they mostly wanted to have a diagnosis that they were really homosexual and then to solve the problem by concrete methods like drug treatment. This study purported to concretely investigate sufferings male adolescents related to homosexuality, and the results are expected to present basic data for establishing strategies of professional counseling and intervention on appealing of adolescents related to homosexuality.
