잠재적 학업중단청소년의 학업지속 요인에 관한 질적분석

본 연구는 학업중단 위기 청소년들이 상담을 통해 학업을 지속하는데 영향을 미친 요인들을 확인하여 학업중단 위기 상태에 있는 청소년을 돕기 위한 효율적인 전략을 제시하는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 청소년 상담센터에서 상담을 통해 학업을 지속하고 있는 청소년 상담을 진행한 상담자 10명을 대상으로 심층면접을 실시하였고, 면접 내용은 축어록으로 작성되어 분석에 사용되었다. 분석 결과 학교 지속을 위해 상담자는 내담자, 부모 및 가족, 교사를 대상으로 개입을 하였으며, 내담자 대상으로는 정서적 지지와 공감, 경청과 같은 상담자로서의 기본적인 역할과 역할극, 문제해결 및 진로계획 수립, 의사결정훈련, 등교 지원 등, 부모 및 가족 대상으로는 자녀 이해 및 지지 등 효율적인 부모역할 코칭과 불안 완화, 부모의 개인상담 의뢰 등, 교사 대상으로는 학생의 문제를 이해하고 협력하며 적절한 교사역할을 할 수 있도록 코칭하였다. 학업을 지속할 수 있도록 한 상담 요인으로는 내담자의 문제해결능력 증진, 변화의 의지 고취, 지지체계 구축, 자기 이해와 수용, 자신의 가능성과 자원을 발견이었으며, 새로운 친구관계 형성이나 동아리 활동 등이 상담 이외의 효과 요인으로 작용한 것으로 나타났다. 또한 적극적인 부모협조와 학업중단문제에 대한 중립적 태도 유지, 자녀에 대한 이해와 교사의 적극적, 협조적인 태도가 청소년의 학업 지속을 돕는 요인으로 작용하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 향후 청소년 상담 현장에서 학업중단 위기를 겪고 있는 청소년들의 효과적인 상담 전략을 수립하는 기초 자료가 될 것이다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to provide effective strategy to help adolescents, being in a state of drop-out crisis, through investigating influential factors which enable juveniles in drop-out crisis to carry on their school lives. For the task, there were intensive interviews with ten counselors who has experienced similar counselling cases and the contents of interviews were used for analysis. According to the result of the study, counselors has made various intervention for preventing juveniles from being dropouts. To adolescent clients, as well as doing basic counselling such as emotional support, empathy and careful listening, counselors has helped them in various ways through role play, problem solving, career planning and decision making so that they could keep their school lives. To parents and other family members, counselors have coached them effective parenting training skill including understanding and supporting their children and how to relieve anxiety. Sometimes they referred parents to personal counselling. To their teachers, they have helped them do their proper role by understanding problems of students and cooperating them. As counselling factors which discouraged leaving school, there were improving a problem solving ability, constructing a support system, self understanding and acceptance and realizing their full potential. In the future, the result of the study will provide fundamental sources to build an effective counselling strategy for adolescents who have faced drop-out problem in juvenile counselling practise.
