영재교육 담당교사의 영재교육 만족도 분석

본 연구에서는 2003년 이후 본격화된 영재교육 강화 사업의 성과를 확인하기 위해 영재교육을 제공하고 있는 담당교사 447명을 대상으로 영재교육 만족도를 측정해 주는 성과지표를 개발하여 그에 따른 교사 만족도를 조사하였다. 영재교육 담당 교사의 만족도를 보여주는 성과지표로는 선발방법, 교수학습 환경, 교육과정, 평가, 교육효과, 교사지원체제, 혜택, 영재교육기관 운영, 전반적 만족의 총 9개 지표를 개발하였으며, 영재교사의 총만족도 점수는 5점 만점 척도에서 3.48점으로 보통정도의 수준으로 나타났다. 성과지표별로 만족도점수가 높은 순으로 살펴보면, 평가(3.87점), 교육효과(3.77점), 선발(3.67점), 전반적 만족(3.59점), 교육과정 및 영재교육기관 운영(3.43점), 혜택(3.22점), 교사 지원체제(3.14점), 교수학습 환경(3.11점)으로 나타났다. 교사의 배경변인별 만족도 차이를 살펴보면, 남교사가 여교사보다 만족도가 높았고, 교직경력이 많을수록 만족도가 높았다. 또한 영재교육원 담당 교사가 영재학급 담당 교사보다 높았고, 광역시 소재 교사가 도 소재 영재교사보다 만족도가 높은 것으로 나타났다. 이상의 연구 결과, 교사의 영재교육에 대한 만족도를 떨어뜨리는 요인은 영재교육 내용 자체보다 영재 담당 교사에 대한 혜택, 지원체제 등이 부족하고 교수학습 환경이 미흡한 것에 기인하는 것으로 파악된다. 따라서 이에 대한 개선 및 보완책이 제안되었다.
Abstract
This study is to investigate the teachers' satisfaction with the current practices of gifted education, which has nationally been implemented by the Korean government since 2003. In order to evaluate the initial outcomes and effects of the implementation, the researchers developed a set of satisfaction survey questionnaire and asked 447 teachers for the gifted to respond to it. The questionnaire consisted of 9 categories of satisfaction including identification, learning environments, curriculum, assessments, educational effects, teacher supporting system, benefits, administration, and overall satisfaction. The results showed that the total mean score of satisfaction was 3.48 on the 5-point Likert scale, which means the above average degree of satisfaction. When analyzed in terms of the categories using a repeated measures ANOVA, the satisfaction scores were highest for assessments(3.87), followed by educational effects(3.77), identification(3.67), overall satisfaction(3.59), curriculum and administration(3.43), benefits(3.22), teacher supporting system(3.14), and learning environments(3.11). These results implied that the factors lowering the teachers satisfaction were the lack of the benefits and supports toward the teachers for the gifted compensating for their extra works as well as poor learning environments. Based on these findings some measures to improve the current practices of gifted education were suggested.
