자녀가 지각한 부모의 교육지원활동과 도움인식정도에 관한 연구

본 연구는 자녀의 교육열이 상당히 높은 우리나라의 초･중･고등학생들을 대상으로 부모의 자녀교육지원활동과 이러한 교육지원활동에 대한 그들의 도움인식정도가 자녀의 인구통계학적 변인과 가정환경변인에 따라 어떠한 차이가 있는지를 살펴보았다. 연구목적을 위해 929명의 학생들을 대상으로 자기보고식 설문지법을 통해 자료를 수집하였다. 연구 결과, 초등학생의 경우 중학생, 고등학생보다, 아들이 딸보다, 그리고 학업성적이 상위 집단의 자녀가 중간과 하위집단의 자녀보다 그들 부모가 여러 교육지원활동을 더 많이 수행하는 것으로 인식하고 있었다. 또한 아버지 학력이 전문대졸업 이하인 집단이 대학졸업과 대학원졸업인 집단보다, 그리고 경제수준이 하위인 집단에서 다른 집단보다 가정학습환경 조성활동과 통제활동을 덜 하는 것으로 나타났다. 한편 초등학생, 성적이 상위인 집단, 그리고 경제수준이 상위인 집단의 자녀가 부모의 교육지원활동에 대해 자신들에게 가장 많이 도움이 되는 것으로 인식하고 있었다. 또한 일부 독립변인들 간의(자녀학년×성적, 부학력×경제수준, 모취업유무×경제수준) 상호작용 효과도 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 부모상담 및 부모교육프로그램 현장에서 자녀의 학년이 증가함에 따라 교육지원활동이 직접적이기 보다 자녀의 자율성 등 발달적 특성에 근거하여 지원활동이 이루어지는 것이 중요함을 부모에게 제시하는데 필요한 기초 자료로 활용할 수 있을 것이다. 그리고 아버지의 학력과 가정경제수준이 낮은 가정을 위한 국가차원의 교육지원활동체계가 구축되어야 함을 시사한다.
Abstract
This study is based on Korean students, ranging from elementary to high school. Specifically, it examined how their parents' educational support activities and the children's perception to such support activities are different according to children‘s demographic variables and home environment variables. In order to achieve such purpose in this study, data has been collected through self-rating surveys done by 929 students(360 elementary school students, 300 middle school students, 269 high school students). The major findings were as follows: First, elementary school students were perceived school-related support activities and controlling activities perform more than middle and high school students. The same is for sons more than daughters, groups of higher grade than groups of middle and lower grade. In the case of making a home-learning environment, there was an interaction effect between the child's age and grade. Also, groups whose father's educational level is graduating college or lower, tend to show less activities that form a home-learning environment and controlling activities, compared to that of graduates of university and even higher level. In contrast, groups of higher economic level tend to have more activities that form a home-learning environment and controlling activities. In case of school-related support activities, there was an interaction effect between father's educational level and economic level. Second, parents' activities to improve child's grades and activities that form a physical educational environment were perceived most helpful in groups of highest grade. Elementary school students and students who are in highest grade groups were perceived school-related support and controlling activities to be helpful to themselves. Meanwhile, as to the perception of helpfulness of activities that make a home-learning environment, there was an interaction effect between the child's age and grade. As to the perception of helpfulness of grade-beneficial activities, activities that form a home-learning environment and controlling activities, were perceived parental support to be most helpful to groups with the highest economic level. In the case of school-related support activities, interaction effect appeared both between father's educational level and economic level, and between mother's employment condition and economic level. These results show that regarding parents' educational support activities, as the age of the child increases, the content of the support activities have to change. Also, a support system for underprivileged families of father's educational level and household economic level should be constructed by the government.
