학교폭력상담자의 대리외상에 영향을 미치는 요인 연구: 개인특성, 직무특성, 사회적 지지를 중심으로

초록

상담자는 내담자의 외상에 반복적, 그리고 지속적으로 노출될 때 간접적으로 대리외상을 경험하게 된다. 본 연구는 학교폭력에 노출된 학교폭력상담자가 학교폭력 피·가해자와의 상담을 통해 대리외상을 경험하는지 알아보고, 그들이 경험하는 대리외상에 상담자의 개인특성, 직무특성, 사회적 지지가 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 알아보고자 한다. 본연구에서는 이차적 외상 스트레스(IES-R-K)와 외상과 애착 신념 척도(TABS)로 학교폭력상담자의 대리외상을 측정하였다. 이를 위해 서울 소재 학교폭력 상담기관의 상담자를대상으로 110부의 설문지 자료를 사용하여 위계적 중다회귀분석을 실시하였다. 연구결과, 상담자의 개인적 특성인 연령, 교육수준 및 상담경력은 대리외상에 유의한 영향을미치지 않았다. 반면 직무특성인 도전은 대리외상에 정적으로 유의한 영향을 미쳤다. 즉, 상담자의 자율성 상실과 상담에 대한 의욕이 줄어들고 무기력해지는 상황이 그들의대리외상 수준을 높이는 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 가족의 지지는 대리외상에 부적으로유의한 영향을 미쳤는데, 수퍼바이저와 동료의 지지보다는 가족의 지지가 대리외상의수준을 낮추는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구결과를 토대로 이론적 논의와 제한점 및제언을 논의하였다.

Abstract

Counselors repeatedly working with clients who experienced trauma may experience vicarious traumatization. The primary goal of the present study was to examine the effect of demographic variables, occupational environment, and social support on vicarious traumatization among school counselors. The Impact Event Scale-Revised(IES-R-K) and The Trauma and Attachment Belief Scale(TABS) were used to measure vicarious traumatization of school counselors. Using the data from 110 counselors working in school counseling centers in Seoul, the results of a hierarchical multiple regression analysis indicated that school counselors experienced a significant level of vicarious traumatization. Individual factors did not predict vicarious traumatization. However, organizational factors contributed to significant variance in vicarious traumatization. Specifically, lack of challenge was a significant predictor of vicarious traumatization. Finally, social support contributed to significant variance in vicarious traumatization; family support was a significant predictor of vicarious traumatization. Limitations and the implications for future studies were discussed.
