내러티브 관점에서 본 성인초기 여성 정체성 연구

이 연구는 일, 관계, 세계관의 영역에서 성인초기 여성들의 정체성 형성 경험을 이해하고, 이야기를 통해 어떻게 이들이 자신의 목소리를 찾아가는지 밝히고자 하였다. 특히대학 상담센터에서 상담을 통해 정체성을 찾아가는 성인초기 여성들을 연구하고자 했다. 질적 사례연구 방법론을 따라 두 명의 참여자를 선정하였고, 2015년 6월부터 2016년12월까지 자료를 수집하였으며, 내러티브 관점에서 사례를 분석하고 해석하였다. 김미연은 아버지의 반대에도 자신이 원하는 일에 도전하였고 결국 그림을 전공하면서 새로운출발을 한다. 이는 김미연의 정체성에 존재감을 더하는 것이었고 자신의 삶에 대한 책임을 스스로 지기 위해 시도한 정체성 시험이었다. 이민희는 자신에 대한 확신이 부족하면서도 다른 사람의 욕구까지 알고 채워주려 하는 사람이었다. 다른 사람들을 앞에서이끌어본 경험이 없지만, 대학에서 학회 임원에 도전하였고, 그 경험을 통해 자신에게도목소리가 있다는 사실을 발견한다. 김미연과 이민희는 성인초기 여성이라는 이유로 자신의 목소리를 내지 못했던 경험의 공통점을 갖는다. 그러나 자신의 이야기를 함으로써두 성인초기 여성은 지배 이야기에 묻혀 들리지 않던 자신들의 목소리를 발견해 갔으며, 이는 곧 자신의 정체성을 찾는 과정임을 조명하였다. 그 과정 속에서 참여자들이 정체성을 찾아갈 수 있도록 힘이 된 이야기의 역할과 한계를 논하였다.
Abstract
This study aimed to understand young adult women’s identity formation, experienced in the realm of work, relationships, and worldview. It revealed how young adult women discovered their own voice through narrative. Specifically, how counseling helped young adult women who were trying to find their own identity was examined. Following the qualitative case research method, two young adult women seeking help in the university counseling center were chosen as research participants, and gathered materials are from June, 2015 to December, 2016. Those cases were analyzed and interpreted through the narrative perspective. Kim, Mi Yeon decided to face the challenge of changing her major, which was against her father's wishes. This was the proof of her identity and was the identity trial to take responsibility of her own life. Lee, Min Hee was a young adult woman who was not sure about herself, but she wanted to satisfy everyone else's needs. However, her experience as a University Association leader made her realize that she has her own voice. Kim, Mi Yeon and Lee, Min Hee had a common experience that they couldn't raise their voice just because they are young women. However, by telling their own stories, they could start a journey of finding their own voice and identity. Finally, narrative’s contribution and limitations in this process of finding their identity were discussed.
