초록

본 연구는 한국교회 청소년들의 신앙동기에 따라 신앙발달 및 교회 적응에 차이가 있다고 보고 스스로의 판단과 선택에 의해 신앙생활을 시작하게 된 내재적 동기(자율성) 수준을 파악할 수 있는 신앙동기 척도를 개발하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 문헌조사, 개방형설문조사를 통해 문항을 도출한 후 내용타당도가 검증된 48개 문항을 구성하였다. 48항목으로 제시된 예비조사 결과를 토대로 탐색적 요인분석을 실시하여 5개 문항을 제외한 43개 문항을 선정하였다. 확인적 요인분석 적합도 향상과정을 도모한 결과, 43개 문항에서 9개 문항을 삭제하여 최종 34개의 신앙동기 최종 척도를 도출하였다. 한국교회 청소년 신앙동기 척도의 요인구조는 무동기, 외재적 동기, 내사조절 동기, 동일시조절 동기, 내재적 동기의 5가지 하위요인으로 유목화되었다. 이로서 청소년 신앙동기는 외재적 동기와 내재적 동기 사이에서 개인의 자율성(자기결정성)의 정도에 따라 연속선상에서 측정할 수 있다는 것을 입증하였다. 본 연구에서 개발한 척도는 청소년의 신앙동기 수준을 정량적으로 측정할 수 있는 최초의 척도 개발이라는데 의의가 있다. 본 연구에서 개발한 신앙동기 척도는 청소년들의 신앙지도와 교회학교 교사의 영성교육에 적절하게 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to develop and validate the Faith Motivation Scale designed to measure the level of intrinsic motivation (autonomy) with which Korean church youths start a religious life on their own judgment and choice. The underlying theory is that the motives for faith of Korean church youths are related to the degree of the development of faith and adaptation to the church. Based on the literature reviews and open-ended questions performed to secure content validity, 48 items were developed. The exploratory factor analysis (EFA) revealed a construct comprised of 43 items. Subsequently, confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) conducted confirmed the structural validity of the scale composed of 34 items and five sub-factors: amotivation, extrinsic motives, internal-control motives, identification-control motive, and intrinsic motives. Results demonstrate that the youth motives faith can be measured on the continuum with the degree of individual autonomy (self-determinism) between the extrinsic and intrinsic motives indicating that the scale developed can quantitatively measure the level of youth motives for faith. The Faith Motivation Scale can be used in guiding and educating youths and teachers at church.
