초록

본 논문은 한국의 신뢰와 호혜성으로 구성된 사회적 자본의 특징이 시민참여에 어떤 영향이 있는지를 규명하고자 했다. 연구의 방법론은 시민의식을 바탕으로 2007년과 2010년 경희대학교 인류사회재건연구원의 설문조사(survey) 자료를 바탕으로 계량적 방법론을 적용했다. 사회적 자본은 신뢰(trust), 규범(norm) 형성의 수평 네트워크로 이루어진 공공재(public goods)적인 사회속성이다. 사회적 자본 접근법은 신뢰와 협력의 호혜적인 규범이 시민참여와 민주적 거버넌스 증진에 큰 기여를 할 수 있다는 것이 규명되면서 사회과학자들의 주목을 받고 있다. 본 연구는 이러한 사회적 자본 접근법에 천착하여 한국의 사회적 자본의 수준과 시민참여간의 인과성을 규명하고자 하는 다년간의 비교연구이다. 연구의 주된 질문은 한국의 사회적 자본 형성과 시민참여와의 인과성을 추적하여 어떤 요소가 시민참여와 인과성이 존재하는지를 규명했다. 나아가 2007년과 2010년 데이터를 교차 비교분석하여 최근 3년간의 한국 사회적 자본의 동학과 변화상을 시계열로 살펴보며 시민참여적인 함의를 추출했다.

Abstract

This study explores the relationship and influence between the components of social capital and civil participation in Korea. The methodology of this paper used quantitative methods. The social capital refers to features of social organization such as network, norms, and trust that facilitate coordination and cooperation for mutual benefit. Using the data in the study is the results of 2007 and 2010 survey conducted by Center for the Reconstruction of Human Society of Kyung Hee University. This argument provides the important key in understanding the social capital and civil participation in Korea. First, component of social capital is formed various complex types, such as high generalized trust, stable reciprocal norms, and high civil participation. Second, I can see that social capital explores the relationship between social capital and civil participation. Last, I analyze the problem of low government trust in Korea.
