초록

이 연구는 한국의 사회적 자본이 시민참여를 강화하는지에 관한 실증적인 분석을 목적으로 하다. 사회적 자본은 신뢰와 호혜성의 규범, 네트워크로 구성된 사회 공공재적인 무형의 자본이다. 연구는 사회적 자본의 특성에 따라 한국의 다층적 시민참여에 어떤 영향이 있는지를 파악하고자 한다. 선행 연구에 따르면, 사회적 자본 형성은 민주주의 강화를 위한 시민참여에 중요한 원인이 된다. 이를 한국에 적용하여 연구는 사회적 자본이 투표참여와 시민단체 참여에 어떤 영향이 있는지를 파악하고자 했다. 연구를 위한 방법론은 이메일 설문조사를 활용한 계량적 방법론을 적용했다. 연구는 한국에서 사회적 자본의 형성되고 있으며 시민참여의 중요한 변인임을 확인했다. 그리고 시민참여의 활성화를 위한 다양한 제도적인 방안을 국가와 시민사회의 조응이라는 통치성 확립이라는 측면에서 그 의미를 재해석하였다.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to empirically analyze whether social capital of South Korea enhances citizen participation. Social capital is a social public goods intangible capital composed of a standard of trust and reciprocity and a horizontal network. The study aims to understand how social capital affects South Korea's multi-layered civil participation. The researcher sought to understand how social capital influenced voting and civic organization. As a methodology for research, a quantitative methodology using an email survey was applied. The study confirmed that the social capital is forming in South Korea and is an important variable of citizen participation. In addition, various institutional measures for the activity of citizen participation were reinterpreted in terms of establishing governmentality, which is the coordination of the state and civil society.
