본 논문은 지정학을 분석의 틀로 활용하여 러시아의 팽창정책과 우크라이나 사태의 원인에 관해 살펴보았다. 크림반도 합병에 관해 논의하기에 앞서 지정학의 의미와 유용성에 관해 살펴보고, 대륙국가를 대상으로 연구된 기존 지정학 연구들에 대해 고찰한 후 러시아의 지정학적 특징과 팽창원인에 관해 분석하였다. 최종적으로는 과거의 크림전쟁(1853-1856) 사례와 현재 우크라이나 사태를 통해 크림반도의 지정학적 가치를 비교해 봄으로써 역사적 맥락에서 러시아의 팽창원인을 고찰하였다. 시대와 환경은 변해도 역사적으로 지속되어 오고 있는 러시아의 지정학적 인식은 우크라이나를 포함한 동유럽 정책의 기본적 틀로써 지금까지 적용되고 있다. 지정학적 관점에서 동유럽을 향한 러시아의 팽창원인에 대해 살펴 본 논문은 현재 러시아의 대외정책을 역사적 사건을 통해 가늠해 볼 수 있는 연구이다.
Abstract
This thesis analyzes the Russian Expansion policies based on geopolitical perspective while examining the reasons for Ukraine crisis. Prior to discussing the Crimean Peninsula merger, this paper looked at the meaning and usefulness of geopolitics and analysis on geological characteristics and reason for expansion is followed. Ultimately, contemplation on the causes of Russian Expansion in historical context is done by comparing geopolitical value of the Crimean peninsula throughout the case of the Crimean War(1853-1856) and the current situation in Ukraine. Geopolitical perception of Russia is still formed and applied as a basic frame on Eastern Europe including Ukraine regardless of time and surroundings. This paper will provide valuable reflection on the current Russian foreign policies as it focuses on the reason for Russian Expansion on Eastern Europe with the geopolitical perspective.
