군사전략은 전시 군사력을 운용하기 위한 개념이라 할 수 있다. 국가목표에서 정해진 목표를 달성하기 위해 전략을 배치하고 운용하는 구체적인 방안을 개념화 하여 나타내는 것이다. 이 개념에 의해 실 병력이 운용된다. 전작권 환수와 국방개혁의 시대에 한국군은 미래의 방어전략 수립의 주체가 되어야 하며, 본 연구는 그를 위한 출발점이 될 수 있을 것이다. 이를 위하여 본 연구는 2 차 대전 이후, 한국과 유사한 전투력을 보유한 20 세기 주요국가가 주요 전쟁에서 수행한 방어전략을 예시하고 이를 통해 한국이 적용할 수 있는 방어전략이 어떠한 것인지 모색하는데 기여하려고 하였다. 이들 국가가 전략을 수립한 배경과 상황은 모두 다르며, 한국도 한국의 특수한 상황에서 방어전략을 창조하여야 할 것이다. 군사력 건설과 배치, 무기체계의 획득은 이러한 방어전략을 수행하기 위해 필요한 요소다. 군사전략은 평시 군사력 건설과 전시 군사력 운용의 근간이 되는 개념이다.
Abstract
Military Strategy is a basic concept which postulates what to prepare in the peacetime and how to fight in the wartime to carry out the mission of armed forces assigned by the government. In the era of restitution of wartime operation control and military reform South Korea has to be the leading body to develop its military strategy. The examples of defensive military strategy after the WWII will be a fertilizer in developing it. These examples are the results of the peculiar operational environment of each nation. South Korea has to creat its own strategy through the mix of the study and operational environment.
